Those of you who remember way back when........I discovered a inspriational post that said somewhat "give a man a fish and he will eat for a day, teach him how to fish and he will spend the weekend on the lake drinking beer." And that is what I did for a while, fish, drink beer and re-live my life in reflection. I have sence never looked back. I stopped drinking coffee for a bit, not because of the trigger, but because the caffeine worked double-time and I was jitterbugging all over. When I cut back, the jitters left. I salute those who didn't have to make changes in your lives when you quit. Some of us had to try a little extra hard. And that's okay...as Tresa says, it was definitely worth it. This post made me stop and wonder. No, I have not "protected" my quit. My life went on as usual the day I stopped smoking. I continued to drink my morning coffee. I just learned from day one to do something else while drinking the coffee. Crisis are uncontrollable and I have never been one to bring in unnecessary crisis so my hands were tied on that one! I have "protected" my quit in other ways by doing what is necessary to keep myself quit. Examples of that would be: staying positive, remembering what I felt like when I smoked, getting excited about my stats and my money accumulated, remembering WHY I quit, noticing the great results to my body from not smoking, ect...... Very good post Lamplighter, and very good answers by all. I read every bit of it and contected to something in each reply. I always learn something and this morning it was a new word. Rusty's pissedoffedness. I love it. Iv'e had it and just didn't know what it was called. heeheee. Seriously I do think anyone can quit. It takes responsibility. All day long ever day. And if I can believe what I'm told one day the nicodemon will die from lack of nurishment.
