I have done some reflecting. I am in 12-step program and we have an acronym that I like to use. It is called H.A.L.T.
Don�t get to hungry.
Don�t get to angry.
Don�t get to lonely.
Don�t get to tired.
Before this last and previous relapse, I was eating all the wrong foods. I was eating way to many sweets. In the beginning I was having well-balanced meal and drinking at least four bottled waters a day. I kept my coffee intake to a minimum. By the end of the second week all I was eating was sweets and more sweets and forgetting to drink my water. So, I was hungry and not taking care of my body.
I was getting angry with all sorts of things. I was mad because I was eating wrong, I let up on my walking and was just plain irritable. Then all of my thoughts turned to smoking and poor me.
When I get this way I isolate. I really don�t want to be around any one and don�t want to do anything. My self-worth goes away and I am lonely.
So when I get tired, angry and lonely all I want to do is hide and sleep.
In the end when I let this happen I smoke. So, my goal is to practice H.A.L.T.
