If anything like the U.S.
they will continue to go to bars/pubs.....and step outside every 20 minutes in little groups to smoke.

You're both spot on. I did a quick survey in the smoking room and 98% said that they would not quit. I imagine that figure may go down in the winter, but maybe not by much.
On my local news front, the argument is down to what pubs can do to attract customers. Most seem to be going for the good quality food angle and entertainment. Roll on 1st July.

I agree with you Mercy.
In all the excitement of me giving up smoking I keep forgetting that there are those out there who still do!
So I get mixed up in my head and think that this deadline is going to make people stop as I have done. I'm still surprised when I go into a shop and people are buying cigarettes. A part of me thinks how odd it seems.

Is a girl from the States able to post here?????? (lol)
Just thought I'd add..........it won't cure the smokers. They banned smoking in the work place along time ago...(along with government buildings...airports and the like. I now watch smokers outside shivering in 10 degree weather. They forfiet their half hour lunch breaks to smoke those two cigarettes they have. After all...they need to go to their lockers to get their coats which is in the back of the work place. By the time they finish this ordeal...there is no time left to eat.
I feel sad for them.

Please can we go back to something that doesn't look as if it's been amputated from a donkey!
Don't want to upset Mr Ed.
