Hey ladybugg - i'm on messenger now, but can't figure out how to add you. This whole place has changed so much, and my old identity didn't even seem to exist. LOL Anyhow, thanks for thinking of me - i'm alright for right now - going to get to bed and feel better tomorrow. I'm just really struggling with the fact that my health is so darn much worse now than it was a year ago. You now? I didn't meen for my post to be so life-sucking. I just wanted Lady to know how much her post gave me some hope. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/17/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 353 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 13,061 Amount Saved: $3,265.25 Life Gained: Days: 30 Hrs: 18 Mins: 7 Seconds: 26

Well, just a minute ago I was staring at the boards, wondering why the heck I was back here. This was why. I really neaded this right now. Lady, I remember you from a year ago when i quit. I remember, in all my naivite, thinking that you were hanging onto the adiction too tightly if you were still troubled after a year. Now here I am - One year later and thinking that this has been the worste year of my entire life. I said, through all of the craves, the anxiety, the depression, the withdrawls, the incresed bloos sugar, the raised blood pressure, the medication increse, the being put on insulin, THE WEIGHT GAIN, the withdrawls, the fights, the physical pain - this has been trully the worste year of my life. I fear death for the first time in my life. My health is the worste it's ever been in my entire life. I said a while back that i'd give it a year. That was it - one year. If I was still suffering after a year, all promisses were off - I could choose to stay quit or start again. It will be a year in just a few days, and I guess that i came here as a last ditch effort to find one darned reason not to go buy a pack of ciggarettes. If there is a reason - this is it. Hope. You had it hard as well - To my knowledge, you didn't et all the health problems, but you had it rough. So... Maybe i'll give it another year. *sigh* The way I feel now, i'm not sure i'll even live through another year. Congrats, Lady,I never doubted for a minute that you would be a successful quitter. I was very fascinated as your story unfolded. We are just weeks apart in our quit dates. I thought this is a very couragous, determined lady and in spite of your busy schedule you were here posting everyday....you and BFS. How is your dad? Did he quit? That was a challenge! Maybe some of your grit rubbed off on the rest of us because I felt that core group we quit with was amazing. It really is remarkable how that particular life change - the quit - is a life altering experience. I had to join a gym I was gaining so much weight which led me to Pilates and a serious weight loss regime. In short, I am so healthy and it feels so good, so much better than polluting my temple (read body) with poisonous chemicals and the loss of contol of my life to addiction. Health is huge in terms of quality of life at any age but particularly as we get older. And, yes, a great confidence builder.....look what you have accomplished!! And you have reached out to so many others who struggled along the way. You really did more than just quit smoking. You have friends around the world that love and admire you. Who knew we were opening the door to a different life? See ya same time next year, sista. I've been doing a lot of reflecting the last couple of days. It is so good to hear from so many. If I encourage you in any way then I have accomplished what I set out to do. My quit was NOT easy. I fought for it so I really understand when people struggle. It took me so long to get to that "I'm ok" moment. I finally made it and I cherrish every single day on my meter, whether it was easily accomplished or a fight! It doesn't matter. The only thing that matters is that Just for Today, I do not smoke. Lady, 2006 sucked for me, and 2007 didn't seem like it was getting any better. But I realised that if I changed the way I thought about things and took every day as it comes, I could make it through. You're post just reinforced a decision I made a little over a month ago to live life and love it so that I'm not looking back and going "I wish I'd..." I'm glad that you're life has fallen into place and that you feel like you do, all confident and successful. That's such a big accomplishment!!! But what's really cool is that you can share that and inspire others to it as well. I admire that. Congratts on getting to this! :p My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/29/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 34 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,020 Amount Saved: $186.15 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 8 Mins: 30 Seconds: 24

Thanks for sharing that with us, Lady! My day is going to be better because you took the time to offer your experience. You have a wonderful attitude, and we can all benefit from your example!
