I think I put up with things because I felt quilty I smoked. Sort of like.....I deserved to be punished. If I did more than expected than I deserved to have my habit. Thanks everyone. I was beginning to think I was losing it but now I see that I am taking the time to put the focus on me and to verbalize the things I want and expect. This has been a journey I would never have thought I would be on. I just figured stop smoking and get some moral support but my whole world seems to be opening up now. I love all you guys for putting up with me. :) Tresa my hubby thinks I need and attitude adjustment little does he know. :p My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/21/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 158 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,160 Amount Saved: $1,027.00 Life Gained: Days: 22 Hrs: 9 Mins: 8 Seconds: 35

Kita! I know exactly what you mean! You are right! When we quit smoking we were forced to focus on ourselves...(that's how we were able to quit) by learning what worked for us. This focus has brought us opportunities to look at ourselves in a whole new way. It's not that anyone was taking advantage of me or anything like that, I have lips. But since I quit I am more assertive and I am more likely to ask Hubby to cook or do something for me than before. I think that's part of the reason I find this journey to be so remarkable. It has forced me to look at myself in ways I may not have seen otherwise. Things are different now, because I am different now, my personality isn't deadened by the smoke. I am finding as a whole, that I communicate much better now. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 174 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 4,350 Amount Saved: $1,835.70 Life Gained: Days: 21 Hrs: 7 Mins: 28 Seconds: 14

Kita, you probably are addicted to meeting everyone else's needs, as most mom's are. But it's probably also true that you used to smoke when you felt unappreciated or put-upon so you didn't ever really learn how to communicate that feeling, or even really feel it. This is a chance to learn a new feeling! A step closer to Kita. Embrace it, think about it, get comfortable with it. Then talk to your family and whoever else is affected, about it. It might take some time & compromise but this is who Kita is when she feels her feelings & isn't she marvellous? This doesn't have anything to do with quitting and having someone home all day. When my husband lost his job a few years ago and I came home from work he would ask me the same question, grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. Then I would say I don't have a clue, what did you fix? After some "training" he was able to have some meals ready when I got home and he even had coffee ready for me. It is all in the training :eg: They have to understand you have needs too. We smoked when they didn't fullfill them, now we have a mouth, use it and in a sweet kind way tell them what you need. Keep the Quit Sparky My Milage: My Quit Date: 4/30/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 117 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,170 Amount Saved: $351.00 Life Gained: Days: 15 Hrs: 20 Mins: 5 Seconds: 0

Love this one!I was going through the same thing, I think we expect more for ourselves. I have changed quite a bit since I quit smoking, I've always been assertive, but now, more so, outspoken? you bet, I have won a great battle and I am not going back to pushing my feelings aside to leave room for an addiction. You have more time on your hands now, use that time for yourself, you deserve it. The ones you love and love you back will understand and adjust to the new you. As to being addicted to everyone's needs I think that describes a mom all too well, but there comes a time when they have to be on their own. Enjoy the new you Marie one day at a time My Milage: My Quit Date: 6/13/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 438 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 7,446 Amount Saved: $2,847.00 Life Gained: Days: 58 Hrs: 5 Mins: 35 Seconds: 50
