Acknowledge the thought. Thoughts aren't bad in themselves. They just not be the thoughts we want to have. So just say..."oh, there's a thought about smoking." See it and let it go. "Oh there's a thought about smacking my husband with the skillet." Because we're grown up now, we are in control of our actions...and they don't have to be guided by our thoughts.

I just had that thought after I finished my hot dog. So I told myself "hey you can't have a cig. you already had one about 40 years worth so get the sprinklers on and then feed the cat, switch the laundry. put lotion on the legs " Lots to do to keep busy. I think my sense of smell has come back well maybe it didn't leave. When I was in back yard I smelled cigarette smoke so strong must have been someone walking by although I never have seen the walkers or joggers smoking. I smelled it in the house the other day and then saw the pool guy smoking out front must drift in thru vents. Keep it up LoLo

Thoughts are the brains respose to a challenge.Thoughts are limited to the past. You see a footprint of a bird on a beach, the bird has flown away all he has left is a memory that he was there.Thoughts are a dead thing they are not reality. You don't need more ideas Lolo just an understanding of how the mind works and it's fun to explore it too ;p

Ok, I would like to know what everyone does to help with the "thoughts" of smoking. What have you found that works for you. I am trying to get this right this time and would really like some imput. I know that I need to find ways of dealing with the thoughts of thinking that I want a smoke. I need to find outlets!
I sometimes walk
I play a game online
I take deep breathes
What do you do that helps you. I need more ideas!! I don't want to replace smoking I want to be able to change the whole thought process.
Thanks
?Lolo
