Telling The Truth

Yeah, if it were easy to quit, we probably wouldn't risk our lives by continuing to do it year after year. I do understand what Bear is saying, though. It's not impossible and it's not complicated. We just decide not to smoke at any given moment. Getting started was the hardest part for me. If it was not hard to quit noone would smoke long. If it wasn't hard to quit the Doctor would not be telling his patients over and over to quit. It becomes a crutch for everday problems. It is an addiction. If it were easy to break an addiction we would not have many addicts. Anyone who has quit knows it is hard and knows it is hard to stay quit. I wont pretend a quit is easy. I work hard every day to keep mine. I value my quit every day. The last time I quit it was for 9 months then out of the blue I fell, so I know you have to keep your guard up at all times, I also have a husband who stills smokes which makes it a little harder. I just know I want to be a non smoking and I live by N.O.P.E My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/8/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 44 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 572 Amount Saved: $220.00 Life Gained: Days: 5 Hrs: 18 Mins: 42 Seconds: 24

I have quit before and has always been relatively easy after the first week but when I get to the 1 month threshold I would become un"BEAR"able! This time I made it past that snippy stage. Have to answer this one .... for me quitting smoking was very painful. In other words when I quit I thought I would die.... it was so hard. This goes with my personnality ,I am intense, I analyse and I get to the bottom of things too much ...... that's me. I accept it and have learnt to deal with it. What saved me is my determination, had to see it through like all else, once I took the decision nothing would stop me, smoking is not an option. So I think hard easy, medium, medium rare, depends on who you are. As long as you get the results in the end it doesn't matter. the beauty of it is we're all unique and deal with things in our own way. What counts is that we do it in the end. So don't smoke, it's bad for you LOL. Great bunch of quitters here I must say. Bear, I have struggled jus about everyday with my quit. I know my quit is strong but I still get cravings that could send me right to the store. I understand those who have quit and slipped it hasn't by grace of God happened to me but it is possible it could. Be glad that you had an easy quit it makes it easier for you to reach out and help but don't judge others by your quit offer a hand. It's like BC and AD on the time line. I am beginning to see my life that way. Before I quit and after I quit. I painted my bedroom last week. As I was tearing the room apart I was cussing......and while I painted I moaned and groaned. Now that the room is done and put together my brain says: "That wasn't so bad was it?"
