I had to say goodbye to my beloved Maltese of 13+ yrs. I also had to look into his eyes and know that it would be the last time. My heart breaks everytime I hear of people losing their pets (special members of the family). When I lost my dog, I was still smoking and I smoked like a chimney that night. You know what? it did not bring him back, and it did not make me feel any better. so good for you for staying strong. It was a tough day for you. Know that you have friends here that care and understand.

I know how sad you feel. I am so sorry. It is aweful.....worse than aweful.
Go ahead and cry.
Two years ago I adoped an old beagle that had an aweful life. I vowed to my little "anna mae" that she would have the best life ever. I spoiled her rotten. I didn't have her long when I had to put her down and couldn't even go to work for two days.
It took me a year to adopt another. Now my little Sophie (who is a hurricane Katrina Survivor) is my new little love of my life. She is the best little doggie ever. Sometimes I wonder why I would adopt again........but..........they bring such love and joy and teach us so much.
Give yourself time and grieve. Do you have another pet?
