Xena, The early days are really hard, you know that already, The TRUTH is that it gets easier every day. Quitting isn't something you just do one day, it's a process and it takes time. Tomorrow you will still be quitting and the next day and the next. When the junkie begs for a smoke I give him a toothpick and move along. Like they said, this is SO worth it. After 50 days my skin is ten years younger! It aint easy and it aint fun but get yourself through the early stages and life will be way easier and more fun as a non smoker! Hi Xena, When You first quit, You have to expermient what works for You, Myself, when I had that urge or stress to smoke a cig, I cut a milkshake straw in half, and I puffed on that for 2 or 3 minutes, and I was good to go-again, or ate some black liquorish candy, or, Just go for a long walk, that always clears the mind, and lots of water, My Friend, I wish that I could tell You it was like falling off a log backwards, It's Not, But Xena, Just look at the friends following You already, Stay Close to this Website, for these Good People here are Your family for the next few months, Don't forget that Xena, Good Luck, And Get The Eye of the Tiger, Smokless In Oklahoma :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/10/2003 Smoke-Free Days: 1672 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 50,160 Amount Saved: $7,156.16 Life Gained: Days: 391 Hrs: 1 Mins: 43 Seconds: 51

Xena, if it makes you feel any better, let me tell you that the longer you go without smoking, the worse they will taste should you have one. That thought helped me a lot. Because with each passing day and as you are healing, the cigs will taste like "crapola". So next time you think you'd like to have one, think of how bad crapola must taste like ok? Keep going girlfriend. And cry your eyes out if you must. Drink lots of water. I think I cried enough every day to fill up my water bottle! So it's all very normal. Release those toxins now. It's time to get well. Shine on you beautiful diamond. Xena, what wonderful advice you have been given. Know that you can come here anytime and cry or yell or whatever you need to do, we are here for you! That is how we all got through those first few days! You are perfectly normal, you've also had a bad drug in your system for a long time, so your body will need to heal. You can do this! You have the strength. When you feel overwhelmed take several slow deep breaths! Drink cold water. Suck on hard candy. It does get so much better! Smoking is not an option, NOPE! Stand your ground, you will win! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 215 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 5,375 Amount Saved: $2,268.25 Life Gained: Days: 26 Hrs: 8 Mins: 21 Seconds: 35

So many people see me as a weakling, as a loser. But i want to win this for me. I want to feel good, to love myself, to be proud of myself and to be here to see me and my children grow. i want to look in the mirror and see me again. WRONG Xena! ONE person TRIED to make you think that. You have already proved him wrong. Welcome back. Tell yourself each and every day right now when you get up that you DON'T SMOKE....no matter how hard the cravings are. How do you manage the edginess the craves the yawning emptiness of want? You just gut it out while knowing it will eventually be over. Xena, cravings are just feelings. They can be lived through. They won't kill you. I promise they won't. The early days are desperate days (or were to some of us). I'm sorry that can't be helped. (listen to Lamplighter) But I will tell this at the same time, each and every day you get behind you gives you a little more confidence and strength and hope. Build on that. Ride out these early days, Xena. Come here and cry and moan and let these good people hold your hand and help pull you to the other side. You can do it, sweetie. You ARE strong. Don't doubt that. hugs Melanie My Milage: My Quit Date: 7/30/2002 Smoke-Free Days: 1894 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 75,760 Amount Saved: $17,046.00 Life Gained: Days: 267 Hrs: 3 Mins: 8 Seconds: 20
