Hey Zena This is commonly known as hell week and they do'nt call it that for nothing.Your body is adjusting to the lack of nicotine and the other 4000 chemicals it no longer is receiving. So be very kind to yourself, drink lots of water and be very patient the good stuff will be along shortly. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/20/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 207 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 3,726 Amount Saved: $2,070.00 Life Gained: Days: 47 Hrs: 10 Mins: 26 Seconds: 26

Hi Xena - I was tired, really tired, for probably the first three weeks. I had a sore throat at the beginning as well but I don't remember how long that lasted. I think it was only for the first week or so. I had headaches, dizziness, problems breathing, sleeping, concentrating, and on and on and on. It's better now and the majority of my issues occured that first couple weeks. I still haven't noticed a change in my skin but I never thought I looked grey in the first place. The damage we've done to ourselves has been gradual and I expect the healing to be gradual as well. The withdrawl and the body's initial reaction to the absence of nicotine is anything but gradual. Stick it out. You'll feel much better in another few days or so. :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 8/25/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 49 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 1,470 Amount Saved: $286.65 Life Gained: Days: 4 Hrs: 10 Mins: 59 Seconds: 3

Xena, Smoking is really hard on your body and so it will take some time for it to recover. Most of us smoked for quite a while too, so getting rid of all those toxins is a process. As I'm sure you've read, drink lots of water, get lots of rest and be very kind to yourself. It won't always be like this and when you get on the upswing it will be worth it. More energy, more peace, more freedom - all good stuff. A week is AWESOME and there are more to come. You are doing great! I've been quit for a week now. I've been so busy and I go to bed exhausted. The mornings are tough, the nights are tough. I was talking to my friend who quit with me saying that I know its only been a week, but somehow i expected to already feel better (as in healthier), and to look better ( as in looking less greyish)... but honestly i'm tired, my body aches and I for sure do not looked healthier... have dark circles under my eyes since I quit. Am I imagining it all? Does it make sense that the body reacts this way cause we quit? If so how long does that last.My friend is having issues with throat infections too.
