What Rusty said. It is an amazing job you guys do. Money does not always make for happiness and things do go awry. Maybe caregivers should get paid a month in advance? Keep up the great non smoking bc, remember it would not change a single thing. p.s. I want that city cow in your photos :) I thought it was a real one at first. How sad, BC. But God blesses her caregiver and those like you who care for loved ones. Most of you know I work as a caregiver in Dallas. Only the wealthy can afford to pay for personal care. Most of them are aged and most of them do or have smoked. I am in a network of women who do this and we keep in close touch and become aquanited with each others Patients. This week a very wealthy woman (96) died. She was a smoker until her husband died 9 years ago of smoking related causes. She quit because she blamed smoking for his death. They never had children and she out lived all of her relatives. She had one friend who visited a couple of times a year and that is who she choose as executor to her estate. She left all her assets (millions) to the American Eye Institute. Her personnal belongings to be auctioned and proceeds to the same charity. As she became weaker the 'friend' was notified but never showed up. There was no service or even an obit written for the paper. My co-worker left without recieving her last paycheck after staying with her for two years. Makes you wonder who really cares. I know this does't have alot to do with smoking-except it made me crave- so I posted.
