Keeping the quit...

Ima, Glad you were able to pop in. You must be so proud of yourself! Congrats on those four months, on the one hand I am sorry to hear they have been so rough (I can't even imagine) but at the same time, girl, you have passed with flying colors. If there was ever a doubt in your mind of what you can do...you've put those doubts safely behind you. Also, a BIG benefit is that you have been fully present for your family as you've gone through these trials. As smokers we are always in two places at once and never fully in either. We always had to keep in mind when our next smoke would be, how we would get it, blah blah blah. It sucks up a lot of our mental and physical energy. You've now been able to give that energy to the things that really needed it. Many congratulations! in the midst of troubles, illness, even disasters isn't easy, but the feeling you get when you accomplish it is priceless! Hello all - I was a regular for a bit until those troubles, family illness and now a disaster happened and I just gave up on posting. Most recent - worse ice storm in OK history- we have had no electricity and no water for 7 days. Finally ran away to a hotel and eureka I have internet access! Woo hoo! --- but this post isn't about anything bad. It is about the fact that I have not smoked for 120 days tomorrow! 4 months without a cigarette - and it was accomplished during the hardest 4 months of my life (and that is not exaggerating). What we have to remember as quitters is that not putting that cigarette to our mouths is just a choice - like choosing not to play in the middle of traffic. Sure, I have said the words "I want just one to ease my nerves" but now those words are followed by "but I am a non-smoker now so that's not an option". That is my "self-talk" and it really helps! Do any of you have "words of wisdom" that you say to yourself to get you through the rough times?
