Star, that truely is shocking news and I hope your Dad is stable and improving.
I would venture a bet the craves wouldn't pass me by under similar circumstances. They have been knocking at the door for me this holiday season though I can't imagine how they rate compared to what you're feeling. From where we are they shouldn't be able to hurt us, they're just annoying little reminders.
There is no positive to smoking, nothing good can come of it. It can't help you feel less worried or make the stress go away. It would become something else you'd have to manage on top of everything else; another problem or complication to face. Our lives are much simpler without smoking.
Stay strong Star!

I'm sorry to hear what happened star. I hope everything turns out ok. It's definitely a very stressful time for you, but I know you can do it by staying quit. The cravings do go away...got to give it a little bit of time. And it's true smoking won't make things easier. And it will add to the stress you already have. It's not worth it.
Again I hope everything will turn all right. Take care and hang in there.

OMG!! i got some shocking news from my brother today. my dad had a heart attack last night and the dr's have been running all kinds of tests today. him and my mom were on vacation visiting family for the holidays, and i am 2000 miles away and am worried sick. today has been one big crave for me. i have been trying to convince myself that a cig will not calm me down or help in any way but those junkie thoughts keep bombarding me. this is the first real major stressor since i quit and i am being tested big time. i am determined that i will NOT smoke. i'm not going to let myself down again.
