Hey Freedom, This is a little off the subject but I saw a reference to Flaxseed between you and goofy and I can't find the thread. I am just being curious because I use it everyday and was wondering what you were sharing about. Mercy, I am really happy to hear that you were able to find ways to reward yourself no matter how little the cost. I am sure you appreciated your new lotion much more as a non smoker, and it's nice to splurge on something you have to buy anyway! Freedom, I never made a list of my rewards. What a good idea that was. Wish I had done it. I do know that my rewards were small so that I could have more of them. Often it would be an item I needed but would splurge and buy the more expensive one I wanted. Like.......instead of cost saving suave body lotion I bought an organic one made with lavender. mercy My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/21/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 353 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 7,060 Amount Saved: $1,577.91 Life Gained: Days: 46 Hrs: 18 Mins: 43 Seconds: 16

Great job Moss on putting the money aside, I still don't feel like I have any excess cash even though i quit smoking 60 days ago so maybe I have to re-evaluate where my money is going! I hope it's not all going to rewards, although I don't think so. (and if it is, I don't feel too bad about it yet) I will start putting some money aside starting today, and will label the account "rewards". Thanks for the tip on that! I am sure your wife will love going on a vacation with a non-smoker and I believe you really really do deserve it! Keep up the great work! OK Freedom, Thanks for the push. I will get a list together and post it. I found a can (see great dream thread) and have been putting away the money saved on my quit meter. I think my wife and I are going to take a mini vaca around the 100 day mark. Oh - I just realized I had your nic wrong! Sorry freedom26! :) Massage covered by work? Nice! Some people have put the money they'd have spent each day on cigs in a jar and save it for a big reward. If someone was disciplined enough to do that, I imagine it'd be a pretty good idea. I agree that the best reward is my meter. The small rewards are easier when you are a woman as nail polish or makeup can be under $10 and it's something that you may have purchased even if you were a smoker. The one thing I do find funny is that I guess I was spending money I didn't really have on smoking as I don't feel like I have a whole lot more money but I certainly can tell a difference. Even if I can't save a single dime I am much happier as a non smoker. I guess eventually my finances will catch up with my quitting, but for now I'll keep doing the small rewards. Oh and my massage is covered 80% through work so it cost almost less than a pack of smokes! I think it's important to set little goals too, anna! I also spent a LOT of money on rewarding! LOL! I also think that rewarding is very very very important!! I'm now setting up rewards for weight loss as well. The obvious with weight loss is new cloths, but I also have my eye on a trip to my massage therapist! Finances willing, I plan to go there every 25 pounds. Great ideas you have, freemom! In the beginning I rewarded myself all the time. I kind of did the whole make over, new me gig. It is a woman thing. When it came time for the serious reward that I had planned I couldn't find the money...hummm. I think it is very important to set little goals for yourself. The sense of accomplishing them is priceless!
