It's always disappointing when someone starts an issue and then others jump on the bandwagon, and then the wagon starts rolling downhill faster and faster picking up detritus and lint along the way. I apologize for any role I played in that.
This site has helped thousands quit and keep their quits. I will always be thankful for SSC, even though I may not always agree with some comments or actions.

In light of recent events, I am posting this message to clear up any confusion.
The moderators of the SSC do not participate in the forums using dummy accounts. The SSC boards are very active and moderators spend many hours screening, reviewing and responding to the many active members on the site.
Moderators do have dummy accounts that serve as a fail safe to our primary accounts and are used when conducting testing via the site. The thread posted by Brenna under her dummy account was an oversight. We are busy girls!
We are very disappointed in the accusations that have been brought against us and propagated through the forums.
The SSC is a free service. It was created and is sustained by staff who believe that health is a right not a privilege. We work tirelessly to create and develop tools and programs to help the public at large in their quest for better health.
We hope this post has helped to clear up any confusion and would like to remind all members that harassment of any member will not be tolerated.
Should you have any questions or concerns, we encourage you to share them with us via the feedback section.
The focus of our boards are to remain on quitting and we hope that after today, these accusations will be laid to rest.
