Kristilu, I too have become a brownie indulging, chocolate devouring, and potato chip munching maniac! I have gained five pounds in less than two weeks and today I have decided that I have got to stop! Now, this just means that I want to maintain some control over how much and what I eat. But, I am going to remind myself that my quit is the number one priority right now. No matter what, I will not smoke! So, if I am really craving something and I feel like I'm going insane (yes, this has happened!) I will reach for whatever sweet indulgence I can find and deal with the calories later. I am also determined to start exercising more often. The way I see it, the exercise should cancel out the extra calories. And hey, isn't the bottom line to not smoke? Together we can do this! Good luck! Oh, and Misty, those are some great suggestions. Thanks! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/14/2008 Smoke-Free Days: 30 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 360 Amount Saved: $122.40 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 11 Mins: 8 Seconds: 34

I would just like to offer the services of my husband as resident sweet eater. He frequently indulges in far far far too much sugar, and he does it all for MY bennefit! Yup.. he does it for me. When he sees sweets, he says "stand back honey, i'm going to throw myself in front of that speeding bullet for you." and he gobbles them all up! Now if I could just find a way to get him to run so passioantely towards the dishes before they chap my poor hands, we'd all be in good shape. ;) It's far too soon for you to be very concerned about this, Kristilou. However, if you'd like some tips for getting through sweet craves or "the munchies" without consuming as much bad stuff, I can help out there. I got myself a hot air popper a couple weeks ago at the suggestion of Sue in NC, and that proved to be worht it's weight in gold. Not all stores carry the organic popping corn, but i've found it to be the freshest for some reason, and I also get popcorn toppers.. like caramel, white cheddar, salt and pepper, etc. I also use the butter buds because i'm trying to loose weight and not adding fat pretty near makes popped corn a negative calorie. lol I also make my own chocolate. The sugar free chocolate in the store has that horrible alcohol sugar in it that sends me right to the toilet for hours after eating it, and it's also loaded with bad fats. So, I take bakers chocolate, simmer it gently in a double boiler with fat free no sugar added condensed milk, and my sweetener of choice - stevia. It won't ever solidify because of the no fat content, but it makes a lovely chocolate syrup that I dip fruits in! You get all the health bennefits of chocolate, not to mention the crave, and there's no guilt! Looove it. Also - my best friend - sugar free, fat free pudding. I do all sorts of things too it - drizzle melted peanut butter on it, put fruits in it, make pie out of it, top it with cool whip free.. the possibilities are endless. Grapes... good for you, sweet, and satisfy the hand to mouth need. I've also found that consuming all whole grains and high fiber foods (not all as in all the diet, but as in all my grains, breads, pastas, etc.) helps to control my carb craves.. I don't know why, but it does. That's all I can think of at the moment - i'll add more when they come to mind. LOL, you will survive, Kristilu! I actually think having the munchies is a part of quitting.I read that chocloate is a very good quit aid, because it raises the seratonin in the brain. For me it was chocolate covered peanuts,(you know they have protein and keep your blood sugar level) so I ate alot of them. But it does ease off too, as your metabolism adjusts. I also went through a lot of sugar free gum, even though I am not fond of chewing gum, but it may have saved my butt, or half of it, as the case may be! :) My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 344 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 8,600 Amount Saved: $3,629.20 Life Gained: Days: 45 Hrs: 5 Mins: 44 Seconds: 33

Uh oh!! Houston, we have a problem. Okay on day 2 and trying not to be too hard on myself. But, have already picked up another bad habit. When I find myself bored or watching TV (from which before I would chain smoke thru my favorite TV show), chocolate chip cookies are constantly in my hand. Thank God someone ate the last brownie at work today and Thank God I ate the last one here at home last night. HAHA!! But, I will not beat myself up about it. It has been a highly anxious, stressful day and I did not SMOKE!! Hiding the cookies, pouring the water..... :8o: My Milage: My Quit Date: 2/11/2008 Smoke-Free Days: 1 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 25 Amount Saved: $6.88 Life Gained: Days: 0 Hrs: 3 Mins: 41 Seconds: 22
