Kristilu...I know I wrote this to you once before, but here goes again. Here is my pledge that I filled out when joining this wonderful group of people: My Public Pledge I know this is going to be considered a "wrong" answer, but I am quitting for my husband of 38 years. He has COPD and is very ill. Intellectually, I know I need to quit, but emotionally, my body still wants to smoke. For me, doing this as an act of love for my husband has made it easier for me to accompish...different strokes for different folks. and you know what?? I DID do it, maybe it was not the wrong answer to do it for my husband and my kids, yeah, it has been hard, yeah, I have had days when I felt like crying, yeah, but...I HAVE DONE IT!! I am a NON Smoker. No, it is not easy. I have had days when I thought the craving was going to get the better of me, but if you truly, really TRULY want this (and please, think of your Dad), YOU CAN DO THIS!! We are here for you...never ever give up, you are young and you can do this!!! next time you think about that rolled up nicotine that is causing you so much pain, take a good long look at that picture of that sweet ittle girl next to you in your pix!! Hang Tough, kiddo, you CAN do this!! I kept putting off buying the Chantix ..because of the price, BUT I could come up with the $$$ for smokes. The Chantix you only buy for 12 weekss.. maybe a little longer if you need, maybe a bit less. and then the money going out is over.. It is the best money I have spent in a long time. I only had a couple crabby days... and it was not the whole day.. We are thinking of you and Rockstar.. I miss you both. I feel very strongly that there is nothing you can do for anyone else if you haven't taken care of yourself. I also was told on this site that I had to want this more than I wanted to smoke. If you can't stop biting people then maybe a couple or 3 days away from "Everyone" would do it. If you can't do that then you need to remind everyone of what you are trying to do and most likely they will all understand. I know one thing though and that is that if you do it over and over then people eventually don't understand having to go thru it yet again. So make up your mind, do you want to be a healthy you, a better worker and a better mom and wife. Because if you quit smoking you will be a better everything. I was very hesitant at first before my quit and some people on here really did not think I was going to do this, but I kept posting and I kept getting all the positive feedback. If you can, get some chantix, it really really helps to not bite people. I'm the worst about that and this time I haven't bit anyone so far. Maybe a nibble or two.:p We are here for you, keep trying. This could be the best treat you will ever give yourself. You deserve it. kristilu Please don't refrain from posting. That would be the worst possible course of action. This site is for people to communicate their feelings. It is not always pretty and sometimes we feel sad because we are having a difficult time. You need to be here and you should continue to discuss your situation. There is no group of folks on the planet who will understand your concerns better than the folks that inhabit this little corner of the galaxy. Why not get back to square one and think this through again. For me anyway, quitting was a process that had to be dealt with from the inside out. By that I mean I had to, in the first place, understand why I needed to engage in the smoking behavior and then find ways to respond to the world without sucking down smoke. It was a matter of patient practice and rather painful awareness of myself. Now I do not have as many folks in my life to deal with as you do. There are no kids, no wife, no significant anything, so it might be a bit hypocritical of me to comment on how one goes about dealing with all these rather complex relationships. However, I do know about quitting and all I can say on the subject is that it is only about you and you alone. That may sound rather selfish, but the reality is that it can be no other way. So take some time to think about you and what it is that drives you on to remain within the cycle of addiction. Once you get a little insight there, you will find a way to make it better. nonic My Milage: My Quit Date: 12/25/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 429 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 12,870 Amount Saved: $4,504.50 Life Gained: Days: 80 Hrs: 1 Mins: 7 Seconds: 59
