Congrats on the good news, Rock.  I don't post much any longer (never did but received support when I did) but I do read and am aware of all you have been through not only for this quit but for your health.  Your strength and perserverance are awesome and your support of others most encouraging.  I had been a smoker for over 50 years and decided one day to quit, got a prescription for Chantix and never looked back.  Oh, there are times when I do still crave a cigarette but reading stories like yours makes me more determined to keep this quit.  Keep up the good work and thanks for all you do.

Great news!  Met with the oncologist this morning to go over my remaining blood work and test results since I came off the Coumadin in November.  Everything came back perfect!  No signs of any blood clots, all of my levels are perfect, no crazy white blood cell counts, etc.  She truly believes that my quitting smoking helped my body repair itself and eliminate any immediate problems with blood clots.  She is still concerned that I travel 75k + miles a year in an airplane for work, but I promised her that I will always wear my support hose and walk every 30 minutes while onboard a plane.  We talked about this site, I gave her the address, and she is so pleased with my progress, as am I.  We talked about addictions.  She said she used to be very "quit smoking now or else" to her patients.  Now she is spending more time talking about the addiction and finding a way to fight the addiction.  She is going to refer other cancer patients who smoke to the SSC site.  So all is well!  Not only do I love SSC, so does my doctor!  Thanks to all for your support over the past five months!!!  For anybody out there deciding if they should quit or not, take my advice.  Quit as soon as you can.  Do it today!  I don't want anybody to have to go through what I went through!  8 months of blood thinning medications, weekly blood work and doctor visits and exams, 2x a day shots in your stomach.  Life is too short!
