Up until about 20 years ago I stopped smoking a half dozen times. Six weeks twice and I think about a week and a couple days a few times. This past summer I was going to quit and only lasted an hour ( wasn't ready obviously ). This past quit has been the longest. I was in the top 3 percent of the heaviest smokers and other than the few short times quit I smoked 43 years. I don't want to go through the early days of the quit again. It wasn't until I was really serious about quitting that I got it done. I've said it here many times, if deep down you want to smoke more than you want to quit you will fail. I was like that for years and then in 2004, the scales tipped, I found this place and I got it done!
Yeah, I was quit weary - but not any more!! Now I'm just quit!!
Good Luck

I quit for 2 weeks 24 years ago and since then have not made it one full day until this attempt with several tries. I made it I think 8 days this time it's gone. Up in smoke.
Coping with stress and staying distracted/busy are points I need to improve on if I'm to succeed.
But I'm not going to smoke today. The patch is going back on.
You're doing great. And I always enjoy your posts. Keep it up, for yourself.

For all those people who have felt like quit failures, I thought I would start this thread.
I'm on my 6th or 7th quit. Not positive though - I've lost count. This is my second quit since I joined SSC last year. For my first quit, I didn't work the program and prepare myself well at all! This quit is completely different because I feel as if I've done the right things to get myself through the tough times.
Anyone else want to share the number of times they have quit in the past? Not meaning to put anyone on the spot, just thought it might be beneficial to see what others have been through.
Or not.
