I have been feeling horrible, and reading such an inspirational post was very uplifting. I am needing such things to hold on to now. I have always appreciated your posts. You always seem to show up exactly when you are needed most, and always say exactly what I need to hear (and I'm sure others). It's slightly uncanny actually.

hugs and thanks

Thanks to everyone in this post. Isn't it interesting how our mentors (with 1 year of quit) seem to all check in about the same time.
The power of this post is re-energizing and make it so obvious. Stop looking back at the shackles to which we were once bound and ENJOY the REWARDS of a LIFE that we CHOOSE to LIVE.
Keep the Quit,
Dave

I couldn't agree more about this site and the people here that offer their help during a Quitters tough times. That's what got me through and got me to 85 days......something I guess I thought I'd never see in the beginning. Now I look beyond........not to 500 where you are yet......but I will.
Thanks once again for more reasons to Keep the Quit.
Huggggg

Thanks for your great words of wisdom. Wow when you mentioned all the things we thought we needed to do with a cigarette really brought me back to how true that was for me. I mean I had such strong associations that all these things went with smoking. Some took longer to overcome but you are right that we can again enjoy everything in life without needing that stick in our hands, and it just takes time before the association goes away. Thanks for the words of encouragement and your 500 smoke free days. Ron

Kelly, first, CONGRATULATIONS on 500 days smoke free! I missed that milestone, so my belated WOOHOO on reaching this milestone! You advice and words of wisdom during the early days of my quit were so beneficial to me! Thank you for all you do here at SSC! I also want to thank you for reminding us of all the wonderful things we can do without smoking. So many of us have smoked for so long that we cannot imagine functioning without a cigarette in our hand. I never thought I could drive my car without a cigarette. I never thought I could eat dinner without having a cigarette. You've reminded us of everything we can do WITHOUT A CIGARETTE! And that we have more time to do all the wonderful things in life! I'm holding your hand as you continue to lead me towards the sun!

Every quit is different. Somo have a harder time than others, but as long as we say NOPE we are in the same position.. We are where we want to be for today. So Your words are encouraging, and I do appreciate them.
Thank you
