HATE this craving

for 15 år siden 0 3875 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Janet, the first few days are the worst so plan ahead for next time so you'll be ready to kick that crave to the curb!
Water, yes, gum, candy, straws, stir stix, and inspiring post you have with you...see the theme. Also, changing your routine really really works, if at home change up your morning routine, rearrange your computer desk, your work desk. Any change helps because your brain doesn't associate the 'new' arrangements with smoking. Try it! Hang in there girl, you can do this! One day or one moment at a time!

Hi Janet,
sorry to hear you are suffering   Sometimes I find it easier to just experience the crave and not fight it.  If you recognize it and let it happen it, perhaps it wont last as long.  Pay attention to what your feeling, your heartbeat, your breathing, and try to relax your tense muscles.  Just let the crave happen and know that it will pass.

Good luck with the rest of your night

Thanks Brenda!  Each minute that I get through without smoking makes me feel better.  I know the road ahead is going to be rocky and I'm prepared for it.  Just wasn't prepared for how hard ole' nic smacked me around today!!

Ok...that stupid crave is gone.  Needs to stay gone!!  Thank the good Lord for this site!  I went for a walk around the building (thankfully there were no smokers out there) and when I came back, I sat on this site and read and posted.  What a wonderful thing, knowing that ya'll are here.

Thank you to those of you who posted to help get me through this crave.  I really, really don't want to smoke and that darned ole' nicodemon is one tough little devil isn't he!

No I'm not.  I don't want to put any nicotine of any kind in my body anymore and those NRT are just more nicotine.  I'm getting through this.  One moment at a time!

Don't panic. It'll make it hang on longer. Try to distract yourself and not be afraid. Janet, are you using NRT?

Janet,
Go take a walk immediately! Doctors orders.  Come back in 30 minutes and realize that YOU want to quit and are successfully doing it.  The Nicodemon (addiction) is the one that's pulling the strings to have just one.  Everyday this will get easier but you are on day two and need to keep strong.  Walking and Yoga got me through the worst of the earlier craves so I say take a break from work and that guy in the lounge and give yourself a needed timeout.

Keep the quit.
Ron

Hey Janet!

Walks are good and deep breathing!  Concentrate on rhythmically breathing to your steps while using self talk...  positive thoughts...  "I am stronger than the crave!"...  "I am in control!"...  "NOTHING will make me smoke again!"

Staying positive, keeping yourself psyched up about being a quitter, and being joyous about the freedom you are experiencing will make the whole process easier for you!!!  This can be done by believing in your heart that you want this more than anything else in the world!  You WANT this freedom and you have it!!! Rejoice and then reward yourself for once again kicking that demon's ash!!!

        You CAN do this!!!
