Day 5 was a struggle

I haven't been inside the convenience store where I bought my cigarettes...in nearly 2 1/2 years!!!!!  Although, since I quit smoking, all the convenience stores here in Ontario must keep the cigarettes out of sight.  They're still on the wall behind the counter, only there's a little moveable flap in front of each brand.  Crazy if you ask me!  People still know they're underneath.
 
So congratulations Andrea, you're fighting back with honour, and I can say we've all been humbled during this journey.  It brings us back to reality.  I am very thankful for each smoke free day.
 
Remember that a full arsenal of coping tools is a great thing to have right now.  And don't look too far ahead.  One crave at a time.

Congrats, Andrea on winning another battle!!!!  Remember to keep diversions handy.  Continue to change and modify your routine.  Convenience stores as still a touchy area for me today.  Too many years of buying smokes.  I simply avoid them.

Be proud of yourself! You are almost through HELL week!  That name is for a reason... the Nicodemon misses you and wants you back.  Run.  Distract yourself and delay acting on the crave.  Five minutes, ten minutes... just keep delaying.
 
Hang in there, you are doing so great!
 
(If you see your hubby's ashtray, go take a nice big whiff of it. That should make you good and sick)

Thanks everyone.  Today was also bad, soooo wanted to buy a pack.  My hubby is smart enough to not let his pack out of his sight, so there is no way to sneak his if I wanted to.  I'm trying to remind myself of my quit last time, when I was free and not a slave to the cigs.

On the up side of today, we began telling family about our pregnancy....my 7 year old daughter was so happy she cried.  This is truly motivation to keep at it.

Andrea, congrats on looking the nicodemon straight in the face and telling him that you weren't going to give in to him!  You've reached 6 smoke free days, you're almost at a week!  Keep taking it one day at a time, one hour at a time if needed!  Please be sure to reward yourself when you reach the big one week smoke free!  And don't be afraid of daily rewards too!  They don't have to be huge, expensive rewards, just nice things to celebrate your milestones!

Andrea, congratulations! You are winning the fight. Every time you beat that demon back it gets a little weaker until it realizes that it has indeed lost its power over you. Stealth attacks are not uncommon. You have to realize you are dealing with something that is powerful, cunning, and baffling. The only way to quit smoking is to do exactly as you are doing: not smoke. And when a craving hits, remember: This too shall pass.

        It sounds like you won a hard fought battle and kicked that demon's ash!!!  We're all proud of you!!!  Keep that list of reasons close along with those coping mechanisms!  The only way that we can be successful on this journey is to live by N. O. P. E. !!!  You will have more battles ahead, but just keep telling yourself that you made it through that monsterous  crave and won and you can do it every time!

Good on you for getting through the cravings. The first few weeks of your quit can be quite challenging. Work the program, use your emergency coping plan, and of course post often. 
 
 
How will you prepare yourself for future cravings? What coping mechanisms will you use next time a craving hits?
