Hi Skates, you should be at 50 now I think..  Kind of in that No man's land..  The worst couple weeks are over.  Friends are not so excited about your quit.. (especially non smoking ones) they do not understand the addiction.. and that it is not just over in a few weeks.

Treat yourslef well.. Baby the quit and rewad yourslef.. This is an awesome time.. so do a Happy Dance.

Thanks everyone...sometimes we all need to know that we aren't losing our marbles and that what we are feeling is normal...and it's all the nicodemon's doing.  Need to tell him/her to bugger off!!  I remember this rollercoaster from my last quit but I think that's when I broke down and had a smoke...silly me.  Now, I need to do as you have all mentioned to some extent...and that is to STAY STRONG.  I will do my best, that I will promise...might be a bit grouchy but I will keep that promise.

I'm going to look forward to adding more days to my quit, just like you have all done.  Can I just say, you are all great leaders to follow!!

Skates, the nicodemon looked at your quit meter and saw you are at 47 days.  He figured he'd try to tempt you, but you told him no way!  At 50 days, you arrive on the virtual cruise ship!  You'll have these ups and downs.  Even now I sometimes have a crazy smoking dream.  I know that it is just a dream, but its weird how out of the blue it just happens.  But I wake up knowing that it was only a dream!  Cravings are similar.  They just pop up out of the blue.  Normally its because of a memory or some tradition that causes it to happen.  Thats why we say it takes a whole year of holidays and seasons to really become smoke free so you can get through any tradition based on a holiday.  Keep taking it one day at a time and you'll go far!

Hi skates,

That feeling will pass, it takes some time but it will pass. In the meantime hang tough, keep busy and stay strong!

Hi Skates,

First of all congratulations on being quit for 47 days, good on ya! It is great to hear that your cravings are becoming less frequent. Many people experience a certain feeling of losing a close friend when they quit smoking. It can be helpful to take your newfound freedom and extra time to puruse a new interest, or a hobby that you've been meaning to try. Work through the program, post often and stay strong!

Skates, for a while after I quit smoking I felt emotional. I also went days where I felt like something was missing, like I was unconsciously searching for something. For years, my smoking operated on automatic. My mind was primed to search for cigarettes even if I didn't really want them. It takes a while for that to stop.

Welcome to the rollercoaster!!! Yes, there are quite a few quitters on this website that had the same type of feelings. I think it is the nicodemon playing tricks on us all. He's trying to prove to us we cannot deal with life as we know it without it's help. Guess what? HE'S LYING!!! 264 days later, I am still smoke free. It's nasty and annoying at times... but it can be done, Skates. You have a great quit going! Keep saying NOPE and kick the Nicodemon's ash... You can do this
Keep the quit
Cristina

So here I am, day 47 and VERY proud of how far I have come.  I haven't made it this far in a quit in over a year!!

It's weird though...something has been nagging at me and I don't know how to describe it.  I sometimes think I am craving a smoke but then I realize that I'm craving something but I just don't know what it is.

I feel like I am bouncing back and forth between depression and complete satifaction/hapiness too...it is just a very weird place for me.

Has anybody ever felt this feeling?  Any suggestions to deal with this?
Skates
