Brenda,

It took a lot of strength to get on top of this and to share this with us.  Thank you.  We will be here for you whenever you need us.

I am so thankful that you have quit smoking and can now address this with a healthy body.  Stay strong!

Brenda:
You are a young and strong lady. You should have no problem with this.  In 2004 I was diagnosed with end stage(what ever that means) emphysema.  I continued to smoke until by final quit date two years ago.  With 461 days of freedom from smoke under your belt you will do fine.  Keep your faith and determination strong.

I went to have a baseline pulmonary function test today-spirometry. It showed that there is a mild obstruction, and I did not have an asthma attack any point during the test. Although it is probably true that I have asthma as well, I probably have COPD hopefully stage I. I'll go or other tests to discover the source of the obstruction. I have pretty much known for about 4-5 years that I have chronic bronchitis. I just couldn't face the music and had a terrible time quitting smoking. I came down with bronchitis in 2005. I thought it would go away on its own, but it lingered until I was given a Z-pack. Every 5-7 months after that I got bronchitis and started doing research. I didn't know that chronic bronchitis was irreversible. Although UC San Francisco told me that I had asthma, they ended up prescribing a Combivent inhaler, which is very rarely prescribed for anything other then COPD. For the most part, I can do the advanced exercises in the gym without using the inhaler. Luckily, I'm now mentally and emotionally able to face the music.

My Mileage:

My Quit Date: 5/1/2009
Smoke-Free Days: 461
Cigarettes Not Smoked: 12,908
Amount Saved: $5,485.90
Life Gained:
