Hi Wren,

You can use the program to help you keep track of your progress and find out more information. As you said, reading the posts here can really help stay motivated. Also contributing to the threads by posting and helping others out can make you feel better, motivate you to lead by example and also provide a sense of accountability.  We are all supporting you and wish you the very best!

Hi mad jak,

If you figure out how to Not slip, please tell me the secret.  Congratulations on five months of success.  I made it about three months before I slipped, but I have managed to hang in with staying sober since that screw-up.  I do not have time for AA meetings so my strategy is to just keep trying.  What else is there to try?  Some days it isn't too hard just because I always have more to do than time to do it. Some days, no matter how busy I stay, all I can think about is getting to a liquor store. The more free time I have, the harder it is to stay sober. It helps me to read the posts here; it reminds me of the big picture.  Hang in and keep trying!!

Mad Jak,

How did you feel before your slip? Do you have any idea what triggered the slip?

Try not to feel guilty, instead feel determined.  Slips happen, what matters is how you bounce back.  Jak how do you want to bounce back? How do you think you will feel if you get through this/

BigJohn,

Thanks for sharing, it is great to hear tips and tricks that have worked for you personally! With all these great lifestyle improvements incorporated into your daily life, how have you felt overall? How often do you write in your journal?

Stay sober, stay healthy, stay strong!

Hi everyone,

One of the ways that helps me stay sober is taking my health seriously.  For many years I have made poor choices regarding my health and lifestyle.  Now I am exercising more, eating better, and reframing from booze.  The benefits; better blood pressure, liver functions are normal, getting closer to healthy weight, and no more hangovers.  By using a journal for fitness and meals, I am able to keep track of my progress.

Smiffy!

It's good to see you're back, I missed you.  I almost slipped tonight but I kept working and pretty soon I'm going to bed (so I can get up early and work some more.) I'm back on the wagon but I've got a nice instructor this time - we don't have to do so much work as in past classes.  I love that because I'm so far behind on housework and stuff at work, maybe I can catch up a little.

You called yourself a drunk.  I only call myself a drunk when I am (drunk).  The rest of the time, I'm just a drunk wanna-be.  I know that sounds terrible but I miss it when I don't let myself have it, and as soon as I'm drunk, I hate it.  It's a pretty frustrating way to live.

I have survived a Friday without drinking so if I can make it through Monday morning, I'll probably be OK until next Friday.  The weekends are the hardest for me. Hang in there and keep posting.

smiffy,

Thank you for posting again. One month of sobriety is nothing to be ashamed of and you should be proud of yourself for doing so. Think back to that time and try to remember what you did to help get through it. What was different then? We are all rooting for you here and we want nothing more than for you to succeed. You are a strong person and you deserve to live a life that is free from anything holding you back. You know what you want, now dive in and go for it.

Keep posting, it may be exactly what you need and we'll keep listening, supporting and cheering you on!

Hi Wren

I was so sad to read your last post.   I understand where you are as I have slipped right back to the old ways. I am a drunk. I just wanted to post to say how well you have done..sober for three months.  I only acheived one month so you have shown me how determined you can be and are amazing. I do well for a while then slip back

Hopefully you will get back on track.. you know where you need to be for your kids.  Just remember how you felt way back and the promises you made to them.  More mportantly remember how you felt..what you said to them  and what you need to do to get back on the waggon.  Shall we try again together?

It was great to see you back and also Big John.  You were both there for me when I first signed in and maybe we can get back together again!

To all the newbies welcome and please post..we need you

Good luck to everyone

Mods please help!!!

Wren,

It's ok slips happen. You know what you need to do, you know what is important to you.  You can get through this without drinking.  How will you feel tomorrow morning knowing that you drank and your kids saw you?  Conversely,  how will you feel tomorrow if you did not drink and  you got through this?  We will be right here for you.  You can do this.
