Good going, Turquoise!

I really admire your honesty and integrity in posting your moderation attempts and
quitting once you knew the truth deep in your bones. Inspiring and helpful indeed!

Today is 4 months sober for me. I haven't been posting a lot, as my life has been so busy, but I am still sober! I can't say that the cravings have gone away, but they are controllable. The main thing that has helped me through the past four sober months (and will probably continue to get me through) is the year I spent on this site attempting moderation, from June, 2012 to July, 2013.

For anyone who thinks moderation is a real possibility: Try it and carefully track how it works for you. Keep a journal, post here often, and use your drinking diary. No one will ever judge you for your slips or failures, and sometimes it does work. If it works (and Camiol, you are doing such a great job with it!) that is fantastic. If it doesn't work -- like it didn't for me -- you will eventually know (deep in your bones) that you need to quit. Honestly, that knowledge has been the main thing that got me sober after thirty years of my drinking gradually ramping up to a consistent level that made me uncomfortable.

I still often get the "just one" or "just this once" urge, but each time I can remind myself that I have proof it won't work. I tried it -- over and over -- and it never worked. As always, thank you all for helping me get to this place. I may not post as often, but the posts I read here are always inspiring and helpful to read.
