Rosemary, Make sure your computer settings are at medium and try the Launch button again. You do also have to add buddies, which can be done when you are reading the posts. Turn the IM Messenger on whenever you are around, this will help connect you with others :) Josie ______________________________ The Panic Center Support Team.

Thanks Lil-bit wow! Your bedtime routine sounds similar to mine - apart from the sleeping pills of course! My job is really physically demanding so i exercise everyday, all day. i find that really hard when i am exhausted and a lot of the time i am shaking like a leaf where my muscles are so tired. :-( Oh well, i hear what you are saying, you've got to make a change quickly or else suffer through it - that's right. tonight i will try to go to bed a little earlier with a sleeping pill (taking them is also part of exposure therapy for me because i am afraid of them.....and when i am rally exhausted i do need them). I wonder why we don't like waking up at night!

Rosemary, I know what you mean about being alone at night. I live with my mom, stepdad, and step brother for the time being, and mom and step dad work third shift. I try to be in bed by about 2 o'clock in the morning because my grandfather, who doesn't live very far away, usually goes to bed about that time. It's like my security blanket. But I won't go to bed any earlier because I'm afraid to wake up in the middle of the night, I feel my worst when I first wake up. I know it sounds like the worlds hardest thing to do, but the BEST time to push ahead is when you've had any kind of set back, it gets you over the set back and gives you a feeling of accomplishment...which for me personally, goes along way to get me out of the house again, or do what ever I'm having a hard time doing. Try exercizing during the day, it will help you sleep and it will help the anxiety. Even a ten minute walk down the street and back if you're like me, who's pretty out of shape. Maybe it will help with taking the sleeping pills, as in you not having to. Just don't exercize to close to bed time, or you'll never get any sleep...trust me, I made that mistake, lol. Pretty much all my phobias have to do with being alone...being home alone, being at a store alone, living alone, eating alone...I'm sure you get the idea! lol But I'm starting to get better at those things because of the program and this forum. Just hang in there, and if you need someone to talk to, we're all here for you!

Thanks for the welcome Casey! Regarding the tools here, i would love to use the instant messenger but not sure what to do, nothing seems to happen when i click on the launch button. Any advice on this one? Yes this is a fantastic site and i am really grateful to be here!

Lorlee thanks for cheering me on. Yes i know with time i will be fine at the flat, probably by the time my lease is up! lol! Seriously i know i can do this but as i said to lil_bit above, the difficulty is that i can't stay at the flat too much and get too stressed without sleep because i am in a physically demanding job. As it is i spend a lot of days at work on my feet expecting to pass out with hands and legs shaking (there's no medical reason, blood tests are fine, it's pure exhaustion) thanks for your reply and making me feel good about my little success!

Hi Lil_Bit you are right we have to face our fears. Unfortunately i've had a bad few days. Sometimes when i push myself i have a bad time afterwards. I stayed at my flat but then i got exhausted from work, i work full time and on my feet all day. The only way i can stay at the flat at the moment is to go there very late (i have more panics at night and afraid i'll wake up in the middle of the night and be unwell).....so i go there very late but then my neighbour plays music in the mornings, so i get about 3-4 hours sleep. If i stay with my parents then i get to sleep late because they are really noisy at night....the whole thing's crazy! I've got to try to overcome my panics at night, then i will sleep earlier at the flat and not be so exhausted. (i go to bed late because then i think that if i wake up ill at least it'll be morning and there'll be daylight! I know it sounds crazy) I panic when i take sleeping pills bcause i don't like the idea of being 'knocked out' but i need them and usually take them (in bits)in the end. I'm rambling on here. My point really is that i'm finding it hard to work on this and go through the difficulites because of working full time and needing sleep. thanks for replying. I don't know what your specific phobias are but if they are related to being alone in some way then i'm sure i could understand. Rosemary

Hi Rosemary, It is very nice to meet you. We all have our good days and bad days. You did really great spending the night in your flat without alot of fear. I know as time goes by you will grow stronger and not be as fearful, but even if you have a bad day don't be too hard on yourself because we all go through it. ;)

I'm beginning to learn that the best thing is to just get out there and do it (it being what ever your afraid of) I myself has started forcing myself to do things that a few months ago I would have declined to do, and my world is starting to expand again. I haven't gotten as far as living on my own yet, but that's because of some specific phobias that I'm working on. Just keep plugging away at the anxiety, YOU are in control, not the anxiety. Show it who's boss!!
