Thanks Sue and Diva, the funeral starts in about 15 minutes and I was reading your post with teary eyes. Thankyou for making me feel a bit better about it all. I am so sick of living like this, I cannot wait to live a normal every day life again and be able to go anywhere without fear or anxiety. Maybe this day may help me realise that I have to try a bit harder than I am.....I just rang my Husband who is on his way there and he said there is so much traffic, he had to get off 1 motorway to try another and there are just cars all over the place. The weather is absolutely terrible today and that seems to make the traffic really bad. Anyway, thanks again to everyone for your support, I am so glad to have you all. ConquerQueen

Hi, I'm so sorry to hear of your loss, it sounds like your gran was well loved, and I'm sure she knew that. When you can ( note, not if !!) manage the journey, you can tell her yourself how much she mean't to you. I don't know what your beliefs are, but I'm sure she'll be listening, so please don't beat yourself up about being unable to go to the funeral, its not that difficult to understand, but given time, and support I'm sure you'll make that trip sometime, when you're ready, and I'm very sure thats what she would have wanted, no worry or pressure for you, just you to be well, and you will be, in time. Take care

Hello ConquerQueen, I definetely understand how you feel. I did not go to the funeral of my grand-mother either. I am sure your grandmother will understand. She knows you love her. Lorlee gave me great advice: To have my own little ceremony at home on the day of her funeral. And I did and it did make me feel better. I listened to music she would have liked and lit some candles and read her my own personnal eulogy and talked to her and felt more at peace after. Lorlee's advice really helped me so I am passing it on to you hoping it will help bring you peace also :) -Diva

Hello, Thankyou all for you wonerdul words, I appreciate you taking the time to help me feel better. Diva, my sincere condolences to you and your family too. Losing a grandmother is hard. Me thinking that my grandmother had a very long and happy life is making me feel not so uneasy about it. I have never been good with death...have lost many many people over the past 15 years or so, alot of them were young in tragic circumstances which makes the grieving alot harder I think. I am glad that my grandmother had such a wonderful fulfilling life, she was probably the most beautiful person I had ever known, never said a bad word of anyone. Her funeral is tomorrow and I have been out there practising every day but still cannot get through heavy traffic or lights so I have admitted defeat at this stage and will not be going to her funeral. I AM TRYING INCREDIBLY HARD TO NOT FEEL GUILTY ABOUT THIS but deep down I know she would understand. Thankyou all again for your wonderful support.

Hi, To both Conquerqueen and Diva I just wanted to say how sorry I am to hear of your grandmothers passing. I know how earth shaking it can be to lose someone close to you and how the pain feels like it will never go away. Though, having a fear of driving myself I just wanted to share a few tips that I use to try to get my through the trip. Deep breathing and relaxation are one of them, but I also try to focus on why I am going where I am driving to. The importance of me being at an appointment or wherever I may be going and then use that to start talking myself down with the ten questions from the program. It reminds me of the people I am making the trip for, and also why conquering the fear is so important. It works for me, and I hope it can be of some benefit to you on your trips. Tallglassofwater

Dear ConquerQueen and Diva, Our sincere deepest sympathies to you both on your losses of each of your grandmothers. You and your families are in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. You may find the following relaxation techniques helpful. DEEP BREATHING: 1) Take a slow deep breath in through your nose to the slow count of five. Push your tummy out at the same time. 2) Slowly breathe out through your mouth to the count of 7. 3) Repeat this 3 times, as you feel yourself relaxing and the stress dropping away. TENSION RELEASING: 1) Let go of the tension in your neck and shoulders. 2) Let go of the tension in your jaw. 3) Focus completely on your breathing, nothing else. 4) As you exhale, let your shoulders drop and let your body sink into wherever you are. 5)Repeat this until you feel relaxed and centered.
