Minnesota,

The members are right, there is no need to feel bad. You need to do what's right for you and not worry about money. Your health is far more important.

Hey Minnesota..

Birdie is right. He's your hubby is your partner.. in sickness and in health.. good times and bad.  He may not always "get it" but he loves you and only wants what is best.  Unfortunately men like to "fix" things and he can't fix you.  He probably feels helpless and frustrated at times but I'm sure he would not want you to be carrying around this guilt.

Cut yourself some slack.. if you had any other illness you would be much more forgiving of yourself..but because it's mental.. we just can't seem to accept that it too can be debilitating.. *sigh*.. the stigma of mental disorders / illness...

It's the way of the world though now and there are many more like us than not...

You're on your way Minnesota and before you know it you'll be in a better place and this will all be a distant memory...

Take care :)..and go to the dentist!  $400 is better than a crazy bill for an infection etc that could be prevented.. lol :)

Minnesota,
Don't feel guilty about the money!!!  I've been off work for anxiety and always felt guilty about the money but now I know better.  I'm sure your
husband is glad to support you.  If the roles were reversed I'm sure you would be glad to support him. Remember that!!!

Hi everyone.
I have to go for a crown, and I keep cancelling,  I made it in June, but I might make it for sooner now.
Its a new dentist so I told her I ws very anxious and she said she has lots of nervous patients.
I dont like the novocaine, I cant handle the numb feeling in my mouth, I start panicking.  I also dont like to
be left alone in the chair when i'm being numbed.  She said there are other ways of instead of the novocaine
but I would like to just get it done, or i know it will get worse.   Its also going to cost 400.00 dollars.
I feel so guilty now as I"m unemployed, as my company said I had to quit, instead of giving me a few months
off for the anxiety., and my husband has been paying for everything around here, and now my tooth is going
to cost me 400.00 dollars, I think thats more of the anxiety for me than the dentist.  He said its fine, but
I feel guilty!!!

I did it!

The only real nerves came in the waiting room, and I used my coping mechanisms questions (Will I survive, what's the worst that could happen, what evidence supports this idea, etc) to pull through that.

I told the dentist outright that I suffer from panic disorder and he couldn't have been more supportive.

I need 2 fillings and 2 extractions, which he will do stage by stage at times I'm happy with.

He offered me a benzo sedative for them, but I declined.  I really am against them.

I'm so happy I actually managed it.  It's a situation that normal people feel very nervous in, so I must be progressing!

Thank you so much to the both of you

I'm going for a simple examination tomorrow and to register.  I'm going to tell my dentist about my disorder and hope that he/she will be supportive.

I just have to keep telling myself - it's a one-off.  I won't ever have to have this dental work done again.

I shall update!

Thanks again
