Is it possible to fully recover from Panic Disorder?

yes thanks.I also believe it is possible to fully recover im grasping as i type the only thing i have to say is our disorder's show how strong we actually are look at it like i do.im not the best typer and im going throu some hard times right now.But i know my abilties and talents and also know if we didnt have this disorder where we could actually be think about that!if you dont hang on to nothing but hope and faith believe! that when this passes how much stronger and smarter we will all be without the worry or guilt or fear or anxiety or other disorder's peace be with the sincerly chris!

Yes, yes, yes, it is possible to recover, definately !!
 
Have now been panic free for 5 years, after soooo much work !! I did the programme on this site, many times, which helped so much, and learnt. Read, and researched everything I could lay my hands on, some good, some not so good, tried looking for a miracle cure, drugs, hypnosis, cbt, you name it I tried it, because I was in despair. It took me some time to recover from what was the worst year of my life, when I honestly did not want to live with this ' thing ' any more, I'm not sure I could have gotten any lower, but slowly, very slowly the days got better, and better.
 
I wouldn't describe myself as exceptional or particularly strong, you don't have to be to recover, honestly. There isn't a single answer because we're all so different, but know that it is possible to recover. It is a slow process, and for me some of the major things that I changed was allowing myself to have ' me ' time, to look after myself, to sleep when my body said I should, to say ' no ' when I should, and realise that a lot of problems do not belong to me , and to stop worrying quite so much !!
 
I never in a million years would have imagined that I would say I'm glad it happened to me, but I am !! It made me slow down and re-evaluate my life, to realise whats important in life, and one of those is ME !!!! So to sum it all up, you can recover using the right tools ( this programme ), a support network, whatever works for you, and realising that we're not weak because we have anxieties, but rather we're strong because it takes a very brave person to ask for help, also we owe it to ourselves and those that love us, to look after ourselves.
 
If I can do it, you can !! And yes I do have moments of anxiety, thats called life !!

I certainly can't say that I have fully recovered from panic disorder yet. I had a mini PA today. But I haven't had a proper for almost 4 weeks. And even that one was a 7 on my scale of "fear". Today's one was only about a 5. From having multiple PAs a day to where I am now is pretty good going.
 
For me it was challenging the panic that worked. I deliberatly allowed myself to panic and experienced the PA in it's fullest intensity. I tried to not avoid doing things. Once I realised that I could face situational PAs I used that confidence to face the one thing that still scared me; PAs. I challenged my thoughts. I replaced the thought "Oh my God I'm going to Panic Eeeek!!!!' with "So what if I panic. I can handle a PA. Bring it on".
 
I saw a therapist and I have recently began anti-depressants, which I am still waiting to experience the full effect of.

I just started my work to overcome my anxiety. I have suffered anxiety for 20 years so chronic. I find the strength to begin this training, because I love life.

Sorry you are going through such a rough patch! Please do try out the Program here, it helped me so much. But take it at your pace. I took a long time to complete it lol. I wanted to really understand everything before I went to the next session. It did help a lot. I do encourage you to go see your doctor too.
 
For me, it was a combination of many things that helped me. First I read a lot. anxiety handbooks, Self-help, Hard core CBT stuff, More esoteric new agy stuff, anything that could help me understand and find tools. I worked the program here and did my homework religiously. I used the though challenging non-stop. I would easily right down 8 thought challenging forums a day at one point. I also went to therapy. Another thing that helped me is when I finally accepted to get medication to take as needed. I vented here a lot. The thought challenging is key though I think. That and braving what scares you and realizing you made it. Exposure is crucial. But first thought challenging is needed. The program here has great thought challening techniques! And sometimes just plain distractions to relax was needed!
 
Ok so now I told you how I did it. Now, I guess we all do it differently! So do whatever feels best for you. You will find your way. All this is to say, hang in there! It does get better. Sometimes it takes work but hey I think we are all motivated to try! We all do it in our own unique way and you will find your way too. Just hang in there, This too shall pass!
