I've tried describing it to my doctor in the past and she once diagnosed it as bronchitis. She measured the strength of my breath and easily diagnosed it as that and prescribed me to an asthma inhaler... this was after meeting my doctor for the first time after 10 minutes. I didn't want to use the inhaler so I've never have... but I have it just in case, then, I went again and she tried to do an EKG? The heart rate meter thingy... and I had done it like a month before and it was fine, so I told her that and she put it away. I don't think it's my heart anyway.... I still have a problem with it, but I don't want to keep bugging my doctor about it.
I get the tightness when i'm nervous or tense, and I also get dizzy, yes i think its part of the anxwity, and it scares me I feel I cant breathe sometimes..my hubby tries to understand why i'm panicking and he says "just relax hon" and I usually feel fine in a bit...:)
Hi Miki , i have all kind of weird sensations like the one you described . Scares me witless sometimes , and whats worse is that i cant describe what im feeling . You did it pretty well . I do get similar feelings so i will say yes !
Miki,
Do check with your doctor to rule out anything medical and also do a search within the site for threads that talk about this.

I think I've written about this before, but I often feel this tightness in my chest area. Sometimes it feels like it's connected to my esphoagus(sp?) and up to my throat and down to my stomach. I really can't describe it but it feels like it might be my lungs too? But I never cough or wheeze. And there is no pain. It feels like something is pushing it down with weight and I feel like I can't breathe. Sort of the feeling before you want to cough, but you don't. Does anybody have this? It's like a dry cough, without the coughing.
