I just joined this group and saw your post. I too am having troubles sleeping. Its terrible, and it seems like the fear of not sleeping is making me not sleep! Have you found anything that helps?
I've kind of had the same problem as you for the past two weeks, I can get to sleep its just the staying asleep that is the problem. I just go to bed later. I found that if I go to bed at 11:00 or 12:00, I'm not waking up in the middle of the night. That way I am stilll getting the same amount of sleep, it's just better and for the most part uninterupted. Hope that helps!
Sorry to hear you have had difficulties falling asleep. It sounds like you have tried a number of different strategies when falling asleep. Have you spoke to your doctor about these difficulties? Perhaps he or she will be able to suggest other tips or lifestyle changes that you would find beneficial.
Often our sleep patterns can be related to our diet. Perhaps reflect on your daily food intake and how this could affect your sleeping patterns. Are you eating heavy meals prior to going to bed? Are you drinking enough water throughout the day?
Members, what other advice can you offer lovine? Any experience with difficulties falling asleep tonight?
Well, last night I took Tylenol PM. I felt drowsy in 30 minutes and fell asleep. I slept around 9:30 then woke up at 2:16 am! Thankfully I was able to go back to sleep but woke up again around 5 and couldn tgo back to sleep. I felt so anxious and stupod for even taking tylenol that I started having terrilble anxiety. I felt so dizzy and weak. I didn't want to go to work but I just pushed myself, prayed hard for help and got to work almost two hours late.
Now I feel depressed again. Don't want to eat again etc....
Tonight I will go back to exercise and chamomile tea and just pray harder to get a good night's sleep.
Lore - thank you for the tips. I now exercise for 30 minutes, 2-3 hours before I go to bed. Then I drink chamomile tea. I will definitely try soft music and writing down my anxious thoughts before I go to bed--though one of them are I have to get some sleep! =)
I'll let you know if this works!
I actually bought tylenol PM yesterday but decided to give myself one more day but I still didn't get that "wonderful sleep" I'm so used to--maybe I will try the tylenol tonight--will keep you posted!
Sorry to hear that you have been having problems sleeping. Has there been any major changes in your life in the past three weeks that you think may be affecting your sleep pattern? Have you read through the section entitled "Relaxation"? You may find some of the exercises and suggestions helpful.
If this persists, you may want to visit your family physician.
The most I've slept is 4 hours straight in three weeks- I would usually wake up every hour or 2-thankfully I can still go back to sleep but then only to wake up again in an hour or so. Also if I wake up around 4:30 am then I wouldn't be able to go back to sleep--I'm not sure--sometimes I feel like I'm asleep and will have dreams but if I open my eyes and look at the time - only a few minutes has passed.
I really don't want to take any meds but was wondering if anybody has tried taking tylenol PM to sleep and does it help.
