I have also experienced my heart skipping or a feeling of "flipping" in my chest. I have heard that is more common in people with anxiety. If you think there may be something medically wrong, you could ask your doctor about it. I also had heart racing since I was in high school and was referred to a cardiologist who found nothing for years. It wasn't until I had a panic attack that I was diagnosed with an anxiety disorder. And just like it says in the first education sections, I think anyone who has panic is extra sensitive and intolerant to any physical symptoms. I think Sunny is right to recommend the relaxation exercises when you feel this way. Keep us posted!
Hi everyone: I have had those symptoms. I don't get them as often now, but when I am overtired, stressed out, anxious, I do feel a skip or flutter. I've been told by my doctor it is perfectly normal when you are anxious or stressed, especially if you have been stressed for awhile. I have had a nuclear heart test and it has shown no stress of my heart. It sometimes feels as though your breathing is off and it makes your heart skip a beat. So, I try and get plenty of rest - do meditation and relaxation exercises when I am anxious about something. I think, for me, because I am a nervous type person, a good diet, not too much caffeine, moderate exercise, good sleep and a positive attitude have helped the most. It's o.k. to say no to an outing with friends if you feel tired that night. It's sometimes hard to say no because you feel you are letting them down, or they twist your arm.
I have noticed when I don't get a good night's sleep a couple days in a row, the next day is when I may feel the flutter if I am really overtired.
I am new here and I was just reading your post about what you go through and I go through really similar experiences. I mostly feel like I can't breathe and my heart skips a beat or is just really irregular. It really worries me, and I always feel really scared afterwards. How have they been lately for you?
It seems as though I have developed this symptom of feeling a sort of tightness in chest or stopped breathing along with heart skipping a beat or beating irregularly. Sometimes the breathing thing will happen only once and because it happens so quickly I miss out on taking the pulse while its happening but it feels like my heart is acting up and then it will go away. The other night it happened multiple times in a row that I just continued to check my pulse and noticed my heart was skipping a beat while the breathing thing was happening. Is this a normal symptom of anxiety or does anyone know what I'm talking about?
