You can get sick because your immune system is run down... and Bronchitis is something that you can be more susceptible to when tired and run down.
I've had Bronchitis years ago, but it was unrelated to anxiety.
My anxiety causes several kinds of sensations... chest pain, burning sensations, pins and needles, heaviness and a general sense of impending problems.
Have any of you ever had Bronchitis??? The feeling you have in your chest from the bronchitis ironically is exactly how my chest feels when I start to panic attacks! I was being treated for Bronchitis like every other week - and the dr was giving me antibiotics and finally I was like you know - I don't have the other symptoms like cough with this so maybe it is not Bronchitis. I started the Xanax and later that day that feeling in my chest was gone!!!
Go to the doctor... I worked as a cardiac RN and the ability for cardiac MDs to fix problems is HUGE. Also, their ability to diagnose things is excellent! Please don't worry... it will make you feel better to have this information in your hands rather than 'guessing' about it.
JDG: I actually have not been to the doctor I probably should but Im honestly scared of what he/she might say. And I think if something IS wrong that it will set me back on all the progress I've made with my anxiety and panic... I've been dealing with the chest issues since my 1st panic attack over 2 months ago.
How long have you had chest pain/tightness? Also, can I assume you had yourself checked out by the MD and had your heart cleared?
Believe it or not, hearing your story is very comforting to me. I've been able to 'breathe through it' as well... frankly, it's something that I've only been successful doing over the last 2 months.
I think the most common symptom of panic is chest pain/tightness. That's what ALWAYS sent me into a panic. But now that I recognize what it is, I can just kinda close my eyes & breathe thru it. And tell myself in my head, "I can get thru this bcuz I've done it before". Sounds simple, but it works for me. It REALLY helps to have a positive mantra to repeat to yourself; helps keep the anxiety from turning into a panic attack.
All I did is rub A535 into my chest to relax the muscles that have tightened up because I forgot to breath. My pulse and B.P. used to go up into the scary range. I mean way up. I have a monitor because I have mild Hypertention. My doctor wasn't concerned, but it still scared me.
Even though I'm comforted by my positive test and cardiologist comments, the chest pain still gives me anxiety. This chest pain anxiety has been w/ me for 2 years... I'm dealing a little better with it, even though at times the anxiety gets the best of me. I'll take your advice and read the relaxation section. It sounds like I'd be better off accepting the doctor's comments and learning to live w/ it.
Heart palpitations and chest pain are common with panic. Many members have reported this. it can be scary but if you have had everything checked and it is fine then comfort in knowing it is from the panic. Next time you feel this pain take some deep breaths and remind yourself of this. Read the relaxation auxiliary section of the program. Use these techniques when you are experiences this symptom. Members, do you have chest pain as a panic symptom? What do you do to cope with this symptom?
Does anyone experience chest pain/fear of heart attack as part of their anxiety? I've seen several cardioligist and had several cardiac exams over the last 18 months and all have them checked out completely fine.
Even though I logically know there's nothing wrong w/ my heart, I STILL have anxiety related to the sensations and sometimes fear heart attack. Anyone else have the same fears? If yes, how do you cope w/ them.
Again, my physical and heart tests have all been fine... I just can't seem to shake being anxious about it.
