"Celebrity" Anxiety

for 12 år siden 0 1071 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Hi Hugs,

I missed out on this thread while I went out and did some errands this morning.  I want you to know that I consider you family and you are important to me.  I like who you are and you have a great sense of humor which we all need.  There would be a void, if you were not here.

It's interesting that celeb's are just like us, except they're like the "popular" kids at school.  When I went over that list, I was surprised at quite a few of them, because I would have never known.  They fake confidence well and hide their problems well.

My daughter is going into the movie industry as a film Director.  She's already met Dennis and Randy Quaid's cousins while she was doing a film shoot and she knows a lot of famous people.  She's not the star struck type, which is good, if you're going to be working with stars.  I always thought that was a neat career, but it's not as glamorous as one would think.  My daughter works 20 hours a day, seven days a week and yes, she makes good money, but she earns every penny and works really hard.  I envied the lifestyle, but in reality, I wouldn't be able to do all of that work.  I think the benefits are great, but it's a really tough job.  Plus, some, celeb's probably turn to drugs and alcohol, because of the long hours, being in the public eye, no privacy.  Not an excuse for bad behavior, but it's got to be tough as well as having benefits of money, etc.  Well, I'm rambling.

I really wish more celebrities would allow their character flaws to be celebrated.  Recently I heard a different view of the stigma of anxiety/mental illness.

The speaker stated that stigma happens, because a person with an illness "...isn't fun on a saturday night...".

Celebrities have a unique platform which allows them the ability to neutralize that illness, as do statesmen/etc.

This occurred to me recently, connecting seeing an actor in a movie, who has a physical illness.  The difference is that personality makes even the celebrity, no fun on that "..saturday night...".

I was moved by the passing of singer Whitney Houston.  I must have replayed her duet with Enrique Eglisias several times.  Since I love to sing, I probably would have loved to sing with her, and with the time being around Valentine's Day, it was hard to forget her passing.

Her success must have have placed great stresses on her, and I'll bet her singing was an outlet from the demons in the rest of her life

Thanks for supporting me sunny123,

What I wish to do  is simplify, and depending on your mental "map", something may or not work as you say.  That idea, incidently of focusing on a single room, doesn't seem to work, since each task is connected to the rest of the home, and there is a chain/domino effect of many decisions or task. eg. when I move something, it seems sometimes that I'm going to be moving it again, and that is overwhelming.  The containers offered at the stores look helpful though, especially the sturdy plastic ones which are transparent.

I am also going online to narrow searching, but not finding my navigations skills are what I'd hoped  they were, since did little of that kind of research.  A lot of magazines online are helpful, but it seems my mind wasn't clear enough to see the options...at least you're not laughing at me like family...I guess I'm the poor cousin, but everything is relative isn't it?

It's just hurtful when someone can't be in your shoes for a moment

Hi Hugs:  It's not so much taking advantage of the world's need for tidiness and orderliness, rather a design idea (creative) to fill a market need.  You may or may not buy these sorts of products, or better yet copy them yourself and tailor them to your needs.  I'm always fascinated by designers' ideas.  Some are real silly, some are fabulous and make me ask "Why didn't I think of that?"

I noticed a big box store carried Martha Stewart's line of shelving systems.  Her meticulousness has allowed people to benefit from her taking advantage of a need for order.  I might not be able to take advantage of that need for order, and just spin my wheels.

I also saw the actor Marilu Henner(used to be on the sitcom "Taxi") on a documentary, and she showed how organized her shoe collection, etc were in her home.  She described how she coped with her obsessiveness, but is a great role model.  For me, both have a "shadow" side to their personalities, but have succeeded in life, and are an inspiration to me, as I just try to get from day to day.

Davit,
I was ending a time  when my spiritual needs were satisfied, so I didn't continue.  Journaling was more important when I was sad and younger or found it hard to reach out.
I can reach out and do things now, and this center is a platform.  A treatment isn't a substitute for in-person friendships.  Sometimes though, crises don't make that possible.

I'm going to have to read more on Ira Progoff, Sounds interesting.

Hugs did it help?

Here for you,
Davit.

Hugs,

I like computers because there is a lot of information in a years journaling. Yet a search engine looking for a word or phrase can almost instantly tell you how many times it was used. If you find  a trigger you can find out how many times you mentioned it before. Not that that is necessary if you colour code certain words or phrases or known triggers. Even suspected triggers. Oh and core beliefs. See journalling keeps your mind from hiding this from you by causing you to misplace it in your memory. You are no longer using only memory so it has no place to hide. I'm sure there are different guidelines to journalling but I find just writing what ever comes to mind is good enough.

Here for you,
Davit.

Davit & Sunny,
I used to journal, and liked writing.  I did the Ira Progoff depth psychology workshop at a religious retreat centre, but it must be different now, since that was as computing was just beginning, and paper was still used.  Imagine the possibilites!
