Why are they Nights soooo tough

Nicole - I personally feel that sleep disturbances are a natural part of the nervous system under stress, which cannot calm down of it's own accord. I also personally believe that in my case, my anti-depressants sometimes made sleep disorders worse, and I had to take sleep medications also or I could not sleep. I have had the sleep test where they hook you up to electrodes and check your brain patterns when you are sleeping, and the doctor said it was my medications that were causing my problems....Now I have a different type of medications which are milder, from another country, and if they don't work, which is not very often, I take a Passion Flower Valerian combination, and I am also fond of aromatherapy oils. You can put them on a tissue on or inside your pillow, and it will help you feel drowzy. I used to be an aromatherapist. Sometimes the natural ways are not strong enough, and you need something from the doctor. You will have to ask for help if you can't find a solution, because you will not get better if you can't get a good sleep. Earplugs and pillows over the head if it's noisy too!

The nights are always hardest for me. The days i'm fine with now, but the nights are always a struggle. I think It does have something to do with not havin anything to keep ur mind occupied. You have time to think.. and it's dark, and darkness is usually associated with negativity or fear. But yeah.. i'm with you with night time bein harder. Sarah x

nights are worse because you have nothing but your thoughts to dwell on.

Hi Nicole, As rhonnie already advised - please be sure to check with your doctor first before you start to cut back on the Xaxax. It is very important to do this exactly as your doctor advises. Casey _____________________________ The Panic Center Support Team

Hi Nicole518 I think nighttime is the worst because we dread falling asleep because of the anxious thoughts and because we dread it, it makes it worse. As for the meds, don't cut back until you talk to your doctor. He/She will know if you're ready and how to lower your dosage. The only thing that helped me at nighttime was progessive muscle relaxation and deep breathing. It took me a long time to handle my nights and mornings better!! Take Care!

Hi everyone, I have a question. I've read that there are some people out there who have the most trouble at night. I also have the worst time at night. Why is that???? I am trying not to have to take xanax so much. I have pretty much read all the relaxation techniques. I just dont understand why the nights are so bad for me. I have another question. If I'm taking .25 mg of xanax everyday and I'm trying to get off of it, how do I slowly get off of it? Do I take .25mg every other day? If theres anybody out there who has slowly taken themselves off of it, I would like some input on how you did it. Thanks a bunch :) ~NICOLE
