Setbacks

Just a note to let all of you know that I'm in a lot less pain and have cut back the opiates. I managed to get outside yesterday a couple of times and hope to do the same again today.

Debora, your concern in another post about withdrawal is a real one but let me assure you it will be no worse than anything you have already done, besides there is no hurry on it. As far as I can see the small amount of medication you are taking is not impairing your progress.

I have quite a bit of anxiety from my staph meds and that is annoying is all. After two years with out this it is something I can do without but it will pass. I have had to use the odd valium which I don't feel bad about. That is what they are for. I will get back to where they aren't needed.

Rather than start another post I'm putting this here. It is sort of a set back anyway. I have been fighting Staph infection off and on for eight years and have been free a few times but it is back again. It is just Staph Auriaus not MRSA or flesh eating disease but still it makes me weak from the waist down in one leg mostly and is at times extremely painful so I'm taking Hydromorphone for it even though it has horrible side effects. Please do not feel bad for me. I can handle this but I think I need a little rest. So if I'm not here, I have not abandoned ship I'm just doing something different to lessen the strain for a bit.
I love you all and ask that you don't let my setback affect you. Keep working and get well, you are all important to me. Make me proud of you. Get better.

This is what I love about this web site is the support I get immediately from all of you.

Hugs4U- I always read the  modules but when I'm feeling well I just want to not think of anxiety & that's what I need to remember is to not get to comfortable and always review.
Davit- I really hope things get better for you. It's always great to hear from you.
Ashley- What is very scary about the body symptoms is how real they feel. How your mind is constantly thinking and it's like non stop. It's a constant battle. It really wears you out at the end of the day it's like you've ran a marathon.
Debora-  Thank you and yes I am sure we will be fine. It just makes us stronger.

Thanks again everyone.. Maggie

Yes Maggie that happened to me last month. I had gone 15 days without a full-blown attack, and then after a very upsetting conversation with my sister by phone they started again! I was so angry and depressed, at her for upsetting me and myself for letting her do that too me, thankfully after about a week it calmed back down, and yes it scared the heck out of me, I thought "there back" but even through I came close, so far so good, but I still have very very high anxiety, health anxiety, and some depression. I just wrote a post about body symptoms and everyone gave me such good solid advice. I hope both of us can deal with this, I am sure we will.

Hi Maggie,

Nice to hear from you !

Setbacks are common and are a part of the learning process. Try not to look at them as negative; they are a little nudge that more learnings need to occur. What do you think is triggering them? What learnings can be taken away from them? What is the gift in them?

It sounds like you already have a great attitude in regards to them. It is clear you have already come a long way in managing anxiety. You do mention that they are "very scary" as you know, that is a perception. What is very scary about them to you? How can you challenge this perception? What perspective would you like to take regarding the symptoms?

We are right here with you!

Maggie

If you have been reading posts you will notice that there is a lot of stress in my life. I get close to panic attacks like you describe and yes it is terrifying because once you dig one up it is hard to stop it. But you did state you have the tools needed. My attitude is sort of "hello, where did that come from". It is such a rude reminder of how life used to be and such a pleasant reminder of how far I have come at the same time. It is for me still getting better.

It is good to hear from you. It is nice to know how people are doing.

Hi Maggie,
I've noticed you're online now and then, and it's great to hear from you.

Depending how "very" scary you make the symptoms relates to how enmeshed you become with the panic cycle.  That's what separates us from living normally and taking a beating.

Personally I'm about to have an invasive procedure and have concerns about the findings from the worst scenario to no findings.

So I just plod along.

When you appreciate the tools on the website, I wonder how engaged you are with the programme?  Are you reviewing the modules, for example?  "Repetition is the motor of learning" I was always told in music school, where practise is not perfect but "perfect practise is perfect"
