Topic: Making New Years Resolutions

for 12 år siden 0 1665 logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo logo 0
Resolutions?  egads, scary for me.  I try hard to stay on track all year, but I do try to better myself where and when I see I need it, or someone tells me what I need to change, haha.
I think I'd like to live one day at a time rather than worry, worry, worry.  One day at a time, that's all I've got.  I want to enjoy each day no matter what the day brings.  I want to be thankful and grateful for everyone and everything.  I want to say hello to the sun and the moon.  I want to breathe, see and feel nature.  I want to be able to work and play and just be.
Sounds like wishes rather than resolutions, but it is a lifestyle I am working toward.

hi museluver:  Oh darn, you were all set and now there's a slight change of plans which has upset the balance a bit.  When I had to drive somewhere in the city for a course I was taking, I drove to the place a couple of days beforehand to familiarize myself with the surroundings, etc. where to park, all the necessary details to make it smoother and less stressful. City driving was a bit scary for me at the time.  Could you perhaps drive there or part way there during the daytime to familiarize yourself a bit?.  It may give you more confidence for the day of the lunch.
Hope it goes well as you are looking forward to it with your daughter and I'm sure your family would be so happy to see you both.

Like yourself Davit I don't make resolutions but set goals. when I joined this site I made my initial goals and have changed them several times during the corse of this process. I had thought I had come a long way, one of my goals was to stop avoiding situations and have been adamant that if asked to anything I would attend, as I have put this off for the past 9 years.
Myself & my daughter have been invited to a family lunch on New years day and for once we said yes, we are going, and yes I feel really good and positive about my decision, until I got an email from my sister just now asking if we would travel 45 miles to a cottage her family have rented in the English Lakes where I live to spend new years eve with our new addition to the family . As soon as I saw the subject heading of the e-mail the feelings began to return, heart pounding, hands shaking, I don't like to drive in the dark as it can trigger off my epilepsy & migraines, so I replied and asked what time as I don't like driving in places I don't know at night.
Am I being too harsh on myself or is this just another avoidance strategy. I would love to go, no-one else will be driving there so I can't get a lift and a taxi would cost too much. I am panicking already and am getting angry with myself as I thought I had made progress.

I don't want to keep letting people down, I don't feel ready, I'm making excuses & I don't know what to do.

I quit making resolutions when I got better, I still don't make them. I have some goals but the very word resolution says there is something wrong still. I do have some goals I aim for but no resolutions. I'm not aiming to fix anything any more. Now I just want to live the best I can and enjoy it. Sorry, I'm not going to pressure myself with conditions. Life is for living even if it isn't perfect.

For those of you still working up the ladder, I'd like to hear your resolutions. Like Josie said, keep them realistic.

Congratulations on all of the hard work that you’ve done this year to get to where you are! Keep on working with the program and the support group and updated us on your progress.

The New Year symbolizes a fresh start and is the perfect time to make some new goals and resolutions to make this year as big or bigger of a success than the last one.  Take some time to set realistic resolutions and make some smaller milestones to help you get there.

Don’t forget to share your resolutions with us!
