Quote of the day

Quote of the Day:
I am not judged by the number of times I fail, but by the number of times I succeed; and the number of times I succeed is in direct proportion to the number of times I can fail and keep on trying.
- Tom Hopkins

This means those "fear goggles" need to be adjusted

While spending a few hours at the car dealer, i chatted with a couple of people, since it was such a long wait.  I won't say I smiled, but I was less of a "grumpaloo", which is probably an improvement

Hi Hugs4U,

You make a good point about living in the present.  We often overlook the small details in life that bring us joy, that make us smile.  I recently came across a book called "The Book of Awesome".  In it, the author presents situations in life that often makes us smile and give us the sense of small victories.  For example, two cookies melting together in the oven    or the series of pictures you take before you get that one perfect baby picture... the list goes on and on.

I challenge all the members to think about the 'small victories' you experience throughout your day.  What is it that puts a smile on your face today - and remember to share them with us.

Quote of the Day:
Dedicate yourself to the good you deserve and desire for yourself. Give yourself peace of mind. You deserve to be happy. You deserve delight.
- Mark Victor Hansen

The focus suggested here is the key to relaxation, living in the present and savouring the wonder and finiteness of life.

Sunny,
Thank you for your support.

Beautiful mountains in your picture must make it wonderful to live in that place.  I have a cousin in Montana which he left California for.  He's not a VVG, but he is a  fine wood cabinet maker.

VVG...are we still talking about him...and his quote for the day..There are living people here posting and trying to deal with there anxiety/panic etc. etc..
I choose to look towards the future and respond to and help myself and the living whenever I can, while I am signed into the forum today...

I see we are back on failures again. You all know my thoughts on these constant comments on failures. The thing is that panic has nothing to do with failure. It has to do with negative. Some very negative people are successful. They use there negativity as a marker to be sure they are positive in their dealings. There is nothing wrong with using "what ifs" to keep you out of trouble. Life is not all positives and if you have some negative days that does not make you a failure, it makes you human.
We are not failures. No more dwelling on this. We have a condition acquired from a life of stress, conscious or unconscious. I am not a failure, I have lived a very interesting life and I admit some of it was very unpleasant but it is experience not failure. It is also useful knowledge now. Knowledge I can pass on. The same as you. You too can pass on these seeming failures as knowledge. The only failure in life is giving up. If you stop trying that is failure.
About VVG. I wonder if his depressive periods added to his art.
I know for myself I can become very creative when I am using my art to escape the anxiety. It is almost impossible to dwell on the negative and concentrate on the fine details of creating. something. Most anxiety for me fades if I can get an hour in doing something I like.

Hi everyone:  I think some of you are thinking too much inside the box.  VVG's works rises above the every day.  Not only did it bring him pleasure and passion in his tortured life - which was not always tortured with depression - but has shown his artistic genius for others to share.  This was his interpretation of the world around him, his expression.  Think of the positive vibes he has sent out for all to see and experience.  Don't focus on the negatives.  Look at the big picture.
These are my thoughts about it.

Your friend, Sunny
