Quote of the Day:
Every failure is a step to success.
- William Whewell

As the quotes recently address failure,I hope this helps us reframe our negative thoughts, for a stronger core belief system and more productive life.

Quote of the Day:
If you have tried to do something and failed, you are vastly better off than if you had tried to do nothing and succeeded. You must never regret what might have been. The past that did not happen is as hidden from us as the future we cannot see.
- Richard Martin Stern

This urges me to persevere despite all obtacles, real or imagined, arm in arm with the rest of the world

Today I am digging up quack grass in my asparagus. I have been doing this for a few hours every day for three days now. Yesterday I could hardly walk. Last year I was so sick with staph infection I hired some one to do all the roto tilling and some of the planting. I didn't trust them in my asparagus patch so it didn't get done. I figure I have at least two more days, maybe three.
Then I am going to try to till myself.
It really bothered me to lose my independence and for the most part I can trade for a lot of the work. Fresh vegetables and a bottle of five year or older home made wine gets a lot of free labour. I also trade work in my shop. There are things I can still do and things I have to trade or pay for. Being on a pension just does not make ends meet. I am always dipping into my savings.
Good thing I have some or my panic level would be through the ceiling and I'd probably have depression. Money isn't everything but in today's world it pays for almost every thing. Today I ache but in two months I will eat and store. I still think it is worth it.
Any one else feeling the squeeze? How do you deal with it? Is it causing you anxiety?
I seem to have crossed over to another thread.

This incremental growth, makes  things "bitesize",  so that we're taking "baby steps".
It was difficult in my day, as I planned to get help with the garden.  I was so stiff today, and felt the shame of asking for help, and that need for independence and comprimise for dependence on others which everyone has to face with age or health issues.

Making some decisions, instead of waiting forever, in procrastination, meant there are costs in another case.  Apparently I have to conform to schedules and deal with the raw anxiety as more people come in my world, like it or not(and ready or not).

Yeah this one is more realistic.

Quote of the Day:
You can do what you want to do, accomplish what you want to accomplish, attain any reasonable objective you may have in mind - not all of a sudden, perhaps not in one swift and sweeping act of achievement - but you can do it gradually, day by day and play by play, if you want to do it, if you work to do it, over a sufficiently long period of time.
- William E. Holler

I practise this as incremental growth, versus the "instant" results marketed by society.  It's progress over perfection, too, which I temper this with

If you look at what you have in life you'll always have more.
If you look at what you don't have in life, you'll never have enough.

I have to disagree with Sheila, at one time I might have agreed. But that was before panic attacks. Some times you can't have what you want and trying to attain it will just cause undo anxiety. And It is not as simple as just doing it. Some things can not be forced.
But then this is just a quote, not a given. It is just some ones opinion. Some one we don't know, just like this is only my opinion.

You can have anything you want if you want it desperately enough. You must want it with an inner exuberance that erupts through the skin and joins the energy that created the world.
- Sheila Graham

This makes me search myself, deeply, for something to carry through conflict during the day

Hello all,

Hugs, thanks for posting this dialy quote

Sid/Red, you make a very important point that this forum is a great place to receive and give support; both of which can be very theraputic but becoming too invested in the results of others can cause stress. Everyone please check out the section on members helping members for tips on supporting members and for an important piece on Self Care.

The Health Educators try to prevent members from feeling put on the spot so if you ever find a post that is putting members on the spot let us know in the feedback section and we will be sure to look into it.

Davit,  you are also right there are no "leaders" in this group. Everyone here are the leaders of their own Health.  As members and Health Educators we can help eachother by empowering and offering our point of view in a non judgmental way.

I would like to make one little distinction while we're on the topic of discussion leaders. Moderators and Health Educators are two different roles.  Although we have a forum called Mod's corner (to save space)we prefer the term Health Educator . Only because moderators of other online forums tend to be volunteers and often just maintain the site in regards to editing and deleting posts.  Health Educators of the Depression Center are paid staff who are carefully selected and trained.  For more information on out moderating approach check out our corporate site www.evolutionhs.com the page on Solutions>Communities talks in depth about the training Health Educators recieve.
