Quote of the Day Part Two

I am not judged by the number of times I fail, but by the number of times I succeed; and the number of times I succeed is in direct proportion to the number of times I can fail and keep on trying.

Thanks for not calling the I.T.  S.W.A.T. on me for hijacking the thread

Shari,
Never apologize for "hijacking" a thread.  This is just a touchstone for support for the many people who are toiling at the programme, or want a break from life's stresses.   Your intuition is worth trusting.

Davit,

Thank you so much for all of your help.  I really appreciate it.

I also have observation, imagination and visualization to help with alone time. They also help with boring tasks. EG I love to garden. (I love to eat what I grow too) But weeding is a chore. First I sit on a weeding bench to weed and use raised beds so I don't have to bend so much. Then I look around in preparation. (not just for bears that sometimes show up) Are there birds or squirrels. What is new today? Not just about my surrounding but what is actually new. No negatives here please. Screw the news which I don't watch anyway. This is about me and my area with mine intruding once in a while. (sometimes a cat comes for attention) I can visualize what my labour will produce and I can imagine it anyway I want it. This may border on insanity but if it keeps me happy then I'm going to do it. (axe murderers are exempt) I'm not sure if this is something people can do or if it comes from a life of mostly alone. Or if alone is what taught it. I just know it works. I also know you can be lonely in a crowd of one or more people (even animals) if all you can do is follow. Alone is not about numbers it is about mental activity. I'll admit that this is better with someone else but we do not always have that choice and even if we do it does not mean it will be right. I get lonely in a restaurant when people intrude in my thoughts with things I'm not interested in.  Leave me alone with my thoughts, they are good company.

If you don't hear from me then the guys with the white coats caught up to me.

Davit.

Ps. I like people in general and I like good conversation too. But I am picky. And I'm still here which says something.

Thanks Davit,

The prove a point dragon, I call the spite dragon.  I'm trying to focus inward, like the rest of the world, and find something to do that doesn't require any participation by others, because others are not available.  If I could engross myself in something I enjoy, I wouldn't focus so much on people or lack of "in person" friendships.  I'm working on it.  First, my apologies to Hugs for hijacking the quote of the day thread, I should start this in another thread and will if there seems to be an interest or influx of responses.  I just wondered how everyone found their niche in life.  Davit, you have gardening and woodworking.  I wonder what others do with their time or how they fell into what they are doing now since retirement or other circumstances in their lives have changed.  How did they find something else to do.  I love dogs and used to show dogs.  It's so expensive now entering shows I wouldn't be able to keep up with that.  I ordered a book on the Brussels Griffon to see if their wiry coat is less work than the long haired Poodles and Shih Tzu's who's hair continually grows.  I'm looking into if they are dog friendly as well.  They are rare and may be near impossible to find.  Well, thanks for listening.

Shari.

Probably more than one Dragon. Anger for one and frustration for another. Maybe disappointment too.

Knowing you can have as many dogs as you want is enough if having lots is not practical. (There is a cat here that needs a home real bad but it is full grown and I know mixing grown cats doesn't work well so I can't bring it home. All I can do is hope someone else takes it. I do want it though. )

As for longing for another dog, that is normal, not a dragon. My friend Monica has lots of rescued dogs but then she has a farm so lots of room. She also has as she puts it too many cats. (how can you have too many cats.)

I always wanted a farm and there were many reasons why I couldn't have it. I got it, I enjoyed it and sold it when I couldn't work it anymore. I didn't need it, I could have continued to work on someone else's farm but that "prove a point" Dragon made me do it. He (she?) has made me do a lot of things I did not need to do. So watch out for this one it lives comfortably and unnoticed among us.

Sometimes what we want to do conflicts with, something that someone important to us wants, and this too is not a dragon even though many others circulate around and sometimes land. Frustration isn't really a dragon but if it was it would be a small one. Anger on the other hand is a large flaming one. It can be harnessed and used to good if done right though. Give him something inanimate to work on. A punching bag or a wood pile work well. Helps you sleep too.

The neat thing about My hobbies is that they can be set aside for awhile, another pet would demand care and attention and be another expense I can't afford. Logic as that may be it might not stop me.

No fool like an old fool.

Hi Davit, there's two questions for you in this post.

Hi Hugs,

I like that quote.  I did that today.

I've been restless and I've been accepting things that are difficult to accept or are new ideas I need to accept.  I'm lacking in things to do and thought about getting another dog, but it would just be a distraction to keep me from thinking about things and feeling things.  Davit, here it comes...I had to come to that conclusion on my own and not have other people tell me not to get another dog.  I feel like a child being controlled by adults when people tell me I can't do things.  I'm 50 years old and it irks me to no end.  The reason why I have more than one dog is because, as a child I was not allowed to have one.  And, it was then that I vowed, when I become an adult, I shall have as many dogs as I want.  I do make good decisions, when I'm not told what to do, and I come to the same conclusions on my own.  I've had controlling parents and controlling spouses and that's why it is a sore spot.  Davit, is this a dragon?  And, if it is, what is it's name?

Thanks, Shari

Dedicate yourself to the good you deserve and desire for yourself. Give yourself peace of mind. You deserve to be happy. You deserve delight.

I woke up this morning with frustration with my procrastination, recalling examples of how my life is diminished by this and perfectionism, indecisiveness.  When my chiropractor was unavailable, I saw another one, and I fell into some of these habits.

His response was "...don't overcomplicate it...".  That resonated with me.

There is something good in all seeming failures. You are not to see that now. Time will reveal it. Be patient.
