Citalopram

Hi Rowan, I feel the same. Why haven't I discovered that website before. I don't know how is the situation in your country but you can't find really useful websites in my language trying to help you. What you can find is some medical stuff which doesn't help you to understand what is going on with you and how to cope with panic attacks. The day I found this website (it was mere luck), I found a site giving you some tipps how to cope with them. I have the fear to faint in public. They recommended me to imagine how I could faint, how much fun it could be and it may sound funny but to laugh about it. It really helps me. And, I have the impression, only to register at the paniccenter has reduced some of my fears. How are you doing with Citalopram?

Hi Rowan: Even though I'm on my first week, I too am seeing changes in me. I still don't get out of the house much, but I'm not as anxious, I'm noticing. Xanax does help when your feeling anxious and need a quick fix, I would say. Thanks and good luck, Evelyn

Hello! Thankyou for taking the time to post and for your support, I'm constantly amazed that even with all we have to put up with we still can support and encourage eachother to get better. How is Xanax working for you and do you know a bit more about it as a medication? I was taking Beta Blockers and they were working okay for the occasional panic attack but I started getting so many attacks that they just werent having the same effect as they used to. I'm feeling a lot more positive just having started the program and I hope you are too, Im already noticing a pattern to the really awful attacks that I have and can see how I'm going to be able to isolate the thoughts that trigger them. Amazing! Why did I not find this website two years ago? Good luck with the program let me know how you're getting along and if you want to share more with me about your particular problems then thats great, im sure we'll find tons of similarties.

Hi Rowan: I am also new to this program and like you I have agoraphobia/panic disorder. I take xanax for my anxiety because it works fairly quick when I'm anxious. Let me know how you do with the Citalopram and let's do this program and get better. Take care, Evelyn

Thankyou so much for taking the time to reply to me and thankyou for the welcome to the site too! It's good to hear that someone else has experienced some of the many side effects of Citalopram as I have been enjoying a wide range of weird stuff happening to me! Like you, I don't ever read the side effects on medication packets as i know ill convince myself I've got them all! It's good to hear that the medication has been successful for someone so I will persever with it. xxx

Hi, I am also new and I do apologize for my English. I hope that you at least can understand what I mean. I have been taking Citalopram for almost a year and at the beginning it was really hard. The first weeks I could tick every side effect mentioned starting from feeling dizzy, no appetit and feeling weak. I got over it but I still have side effects and I am thinking of trying something new. I have been told that Citalopram is a really effective one and I hope that it helps you. What I can tell you is to try to take it at least two or three months to see how it works. Read what side effects might turn up so that you are prepared (I did not do it to avoid thinking on every side effect possible and getting it). Today I talked to a doctor and she told me that Citalopram might trigger or intensify fear or panic. I'll check that out and let you know. If you have any question please let me know. Perhaps I can help you (sharing my experience with Citalopram). cu

Hi Rowan, Welcome to the site. Thanks for taking the time to introduce yourself here. You will see that this is a great place to share your feelings of panic and anxiety with members who truly understand what it is like to have these feelings. Regarding your medication, fellow members will be responding soon, but please also don't hesitate to discuss any questions or concerns with your doctor or pharmacist. It is great to hear that you are starting the program. Many here have had great success in overcoming their feelings of panic and anxiety. Take it slow and work through at your own pace. We wish you all the best and look forward to hearing from you again soon! Casey _________________________________________ The Panic Center Support Team

Hi, I'm just new to the website today and I think it's totally amazing that I've found somewhere that I can talk to people who are experiencing similar things to me. You feel like your the only one and you're going absolutely insane! I wanted to ask a question to anyone who knows anything about the medication Citalopram. I was just put onto it a few days ago as I'd resisted taking any mediaction for two years but my anxiety and panic and agoraphobia were getting so strong that I just cannot lead anything resembling a normal life anymore. I have taken Seroxat in the past but didn't want to go back onto it as i found it so hard to come off. I guess I just wanted to ask if anyone had any experience of taking it or knew its effectiveness? I've tried looking it up on the internet but its all gobbldygook to me! My major problem is that my physical symptoms of anxiety are stopping me from going out at all and are very strong even when im safe in my own house. I live in constant terror and am a bag of nerves shaking and unable to breathe and feeling totally unreal. this of course has led to depression as im so frustrated that i cant live a normal life and have had to quit my job and stop socializing or evening popping to the shops for some milk. I have started the 12 week program today and am hoping this will help although I have tried similar things in the past. At the moment I am having a total relapse as in the last 6 months I had come on a lot and was starting to feel more in control, then i went on holiday and the stress of that led to a total breakdown hence the medication. I was just wondering if it would really help and how? thanks to anyone who replies and I wish everyone the very best!
