Having a really bad time

Hi Molly, I'm so sorry to hear that you're going through a bad time. I found that once I sought help for my depression I found dealing with the panic and anxiety much easier. I think I will always be prone to depression and will probably be on my meds forever, which isn't an issue for me. Like you tho' I tried many anti depressants until I found one that worked for me, I think we all have different tolerances and make up. My medication now is Venlafaxine ( not sure what its called in the states ), but as the moderator said , your doctor should be working with you on this. There are hundreds of drugs out there, and awful tho' it is, sometimes it really is just a case of finding one thats right for you, which takes time I'm afraid. Whatever drug it is,give it time to take effect. I know I wanted an immediate ' light bulb' type experience i.e all would be better immediately, and got very disappointed when I found this wasn't the case. I know this might sound daft as well, but don't underestimate the power of a good sleep or rest either, its just so important that when you are depressed, you get good sleep, and a little outdoor activity too. Hope this has helped, and you feel better soon. You can do it !!!

Mollylove, Yes, racing thoughts are often present in those with panic disorder. Depression is also quite common among individuals with panic disorder. Please know that you are not alone and there is additional help here for you. We have a great therapy program that many have found helpful. It is located in your session diary. With regards to medication, we can only advise that you should continue working with your doctor or psychiatrist. He/she is the best authority to diagnose you & decide what options may work best for you. It can be a very frustrating process, you're not alone there either, but with time and effort you'll be able to find something that works best for you. TextI have had major anxiety and panic attacks for 7 years now. I'm also getting depressed more often lately. I tried many SSRI's and none work. All i get are the worst side effects. I have racing thoughts also at times. I am just having a really bad time and it's hard to stay hopefull when your in such a state of fear all the time. I don't know what to do. Does anyone else have this or has had this? They say to try mood stabelizers? But it that for me?! Does anyone one here take them? I'm just feeling a bit lost and very scared. Are racing thoughts and depression also a part of panic disorder?
