Hugs.

Ah but that is safe, and life is not always safe. Some times there are surprises, not nice surprises. This is what coping skills are for. Exposure is a way to test your coping skills.
Still having a back door to escape is nice if not really a coping skill.

If I don't find all the obstacles, and remove them, I inevitably find reasons not to go.  I plan and have all the things in order to get myself there.  Then it's all good

The problems that I encountered was that I was always fine tuning and adapting the exposure planner. I had 3 treatment goals and the successes is that now I can be on places that remember my old job where I had a nervous breakdown last year (1 of the treatment goals).

I have learned that I could do anything that I think I have the capability and that I could use the treatment goals technique for other as+ects of life too. I just have to take one step at a me.

Now I have 3 treatment goals:
  1. Working 3 hours a day (except weekends)
  2. Dealing with the stress of having a to do list
  3. Studying and working with a relaxed attitude.

The first problem I ran into was, I didn't want to do it.  However, if I want to get better I need to do it.  Brushing my teeth isn't on the top of my list of fun things to do, but if I don't do it, I'll be toothless.  The successes are, the more you do it, the easier it gets and then you wonder why you had a problem with it in the first place.  What I've learned is that even if you run or avoid, you can always do a "do over" and try again (the sooner the better) and just be patient with yourself.  I know it's hard not to get frustrated, but it is well worth the effort in working toward the goal of being cured.  One day, it will click, maybe today's the day.

Members,

If you are just joining us, in order to better help each other on our journey towards wellness we are working through the Panic Centre program together, as a group. If you have already started the program feel free to add your thoughts. You may even decide to review this session for the purpose of this group discussion.
If you are not at Session 5 yet please check back in the forums and find the discussion you are currently working on, add your thoughts and view what others have had to say

In Session 5 you will…

•    Get helpful tips on treatment goals and exposure work
•    Review some common problems people have with exposure work
•    Introduce more information about how to succeed at exposure work

What problems did you encounter while doing exposure work?  What successes did you experience while doing exposure work? What have you learned?
