Question about advancement in CBT

Does sound like the Rhumba. No one would question the back and force there would they. If only we could find a simple way to quit exaggerating the negative we could enjoy the dance.
" I could have missed the pain but then I would have missed the dance"  (Garth Brooks)
Life is about change and getting the best of it. Dance when ever you can. Let the pain just be experience and live and love life to the fullest.

Here for us. (even if it is just to listen)

The thing I like about this program is that each session is all written out and available to access at anytime.  When I started with session 1, I also thought... "Oh, I already know all this."  But as I have continued, I find I need to go back and re-read parts as I gain new understanding (or find myself confused).  I've read session 1 about 10 times and find something new each time.  Sometimes my brain just can't process new information the first few times so it helps to move on and then come back.  I'm glad the sessions are there for us to use anyway that fits our own learning style.

Topic 1 had alot of material that i already knew as i had researched anxiety and panic before, so i completed it and jumped to topic 10 and did the relaxation module because i really wanted tips on how to relax (and it has helped tremendously). i plan on going back to topic 2 tomorrow and taking the full week.

Hi again, j,

Good question. You seem to have lots of insight so use your judgement about how to proceed. There are no hard/fast rules-- a week per Step is a guideline. Some will take longer, you might be ok with shorter. As long as you aren't afraid to go back and forth if needed.. Anyone have an analogy for a steady line moving forward but once in a while going back a bit, then get back on track to go forward, but...??  Wow, sounds like the Rhumba actually!!

I'm sure others will chime in with their experiences too.

Hello,

I know that the program says to stay with every step for a week, but I was wondering if that included step 1? Because it seems like step 1 is more of just an introduction to what panic and anxiety are. This is my third day of step 1 and I have recorded these days in the symptom tracker, plus the day before because that was when my anxiety level actually rose and led to a mild attack. So I was just wondering if I should do step 1 for a week before moving to step 2 or if moving on would be fine? I do plan on keeping with step 2 for a week because I understand that learning is a process, especially with dealing with something like anxiety. Thank you.

Stay positive,
-jSquared
