I'm a dance studio owner and can say that most ballroom classes, the teacher assumes that you have never danced before and start with the basics. They also know you're there for fun, so there are no expectations on the teachers part-each couple learns at their own pace. Know that EVERYONE just starting out feel anxious getting started. IF the instructor is good, they'll make you feel at ease & have you laughing by the end of the first hour. LOL-actually talking to you about makes me realize how I miss teaching those classes. I teach the advanced teenagers in other styles of dance. You know the snotty, think they are better than the teacher ones, who constantly roll their eyes, make sarcastic comments & produce much anxiety for me. Wait a minute! I'm the owner! I'm in charge! I'm changing what classes I teach! THANKS for helping me with a good insight! (The light bulb going on & the DUH moment all at the same time)
