Hey Jan You found the perfect space to let go, ramble, rave. This space is perfect because it is witnessed, shared and no matter what, people here will give feed back. I relate to the runny nose, I also have an itchy, scratch feeling in my upper chest, the most likely thing is that my lungs are healing. Hooray. You are absolutely dead on with that this is the moment, this time right now is the time to "take control of your life". And I totally relate to "It has been three days, cold turkey, no one dead yet Smile and so far so good." for me it has been thirty something days and I just sit and count. Good for you, you know it will pass, sometimes the passing is better and sometimes the passing is passing. Keep the quit. Be strong! Hi, Jan. Cold turkey, huh? I'm always impressed by someone who's tough enough to do that. I woosed out and went with Wellbutrin. Whatever it takes, right? Don't worry about finding blog space to ramble. Here is just fine. What you've written makes perfect sense, to us anyway. Been there, done that, haven't forgotten. Three days is just awesome, Jan. You've pretty much gotten the nicotine out of your system by now. The first week is the hardest by far. Your runny nose could be a reaction to the quit. Many here have experienced a period of coughing up gunk as the lungs cleaned themselves. Maybe some noses go through the same thing. Personally, I felt like I was coming down with a sinus infection the first month. Never actually got one, never had a fever, but the sinuses were really dry for a while. You're doing great, Jan. Keep up the good quit. :) Shevie My Milage: My Quit Date: 5/23/2005 Smoke-Free Days: 301 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 6,033 Amount Saved: $1143.8 Life Gained: Days: 56 Hrs: 5 Mins: 35 Seconds: 40

Okay day 3, I know that my days get better, and my cravings shorter...I have been here before, and I know I can beat it. Many of my coworkers just came in from outside... hmmm ...YUCK... I too smelled like that. I don't know if any of you have experienced this, but since Saturday morning ..worse today ..my nose has been running, I don't have a cold or allergies...someone said it is because of not smoking.. hmm don't know. I have totally changed my routine when I get up..so those cravings are not too bad.. but right now.. it is making me want to say forget about it ..I will do it tomorrow. I can't wait to get home tonight..cause I throw my pj's on right away and won't go out to the store :) that is one of my coping mechanisms. I know I want to do this, I know that I need to do this - there is no time better than right now to take control of my life, and get back to where I am not hiding anymore and sneaking. I don't want to see dissappointment on my son's face or hubbys face anymore when I get up to go outside for a smoke. It has been three days, cold turkey, no one dead yet :) and so far so good. This probably doesn't make much sense to anyone, I think I should find a blog space to just ramble - sorry . Jan, This absolutely makes sense! The most common questions when quitting smoking is dealing with withdrawal symptoms. Each smoker has different withdrawal symptoms indeed yours will be unique! Although they may be unpleasant, they do pass. When you experience withdrawal symptoms, remind yourself that each symptom is a sign of recovery. Your body is in the process of healing itself. Think of withdrawal symptoms as growing pains. Please post often and let us know how we can help, Josie _____________________ The SSC Support Team.
