bad bad mood

Hi Ang, I'm kinda new here going on three weeks this weekend but it seems like when I get in one of thoses moods I punch my pillows it fluffs them up and gets out the aggression. Then you may want to write a nasty letter to the person you are mad at and really ramble on vent out your feelings and then read it and tear it up. Then have a nice hot cup of hot chocolate or herb tea and get out the nail polish and do your nails. By now they must be so pretty and white. Hope you feel better. judy My Milage: My Quit Date: 3/5/2006 Smoke-Free Days: 19 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 512 Amount Saved: $38 Life Gained: Days: 2 Hrs: 20 Mins: 5 Seconds: 42

Sorry to hear you are having a hard time Ang. This may sound inadequate but, when I get upset, I drink hot tea or cappucino... it seems to help me calm down. The deep breaths that come from your stomach area.. are truly calming. It is the same type of breathing we did when we smoked.. it was part of the calming then too. It will get better .. ang... take some deep breaths. Let go of that anger. It's not doing you any good. What productive can come of it? Nothing. You have a great quit and no one is worth losing it over. Some times life sucks and it does whether you smoke or not. You already know that smoking never makes anything better or solves any issues. Get out your coping skills and use them. Do something to take your mind off the situation. Go for a walk, take a shower, watch a movie...whatever it takes... just don't smoke. Go ahead and scream if it helps. You wont be the first to yell out in frustration, trust me. Turn away from the anger. You've had your moment and now its over. Let it go. Move forward in a possitive direction. You can do it. ang, Do something for you! Buy yourself a treat, read a book, relax yourself and be alone. You are allowed to take you time :) Keep Strong, Josie _____________________ The SSC Support Team.
