bambi, You are now absorbing more oxygen through your lungs than your body has been accustomed to. The dizziness may come once or twice a day for a few days. It usually lasts only one or two seconds, and is gone before you have time to do anything about it. How long will this last? The first few days after quitting. Tips to help: Take extra caution in the common physical things you do. Practice standing up or moving at a slower pace. If you have a symptom that persists or seems worse than you expected, you should immediately consult a doctor. It�s possible that your smoking has been masking symptoms of some illness, and when you stop smoking the symptoms abruptly become noticeable. Hey Bambi, Your not alone. I still get bad dizzy spells. And I got a real bad case of Pins and Needles last Sunday in my right arm & shoulder. Thought I was having a heart attack. I'm told it will get better in time... Bambi - The exact same thing happened to me about day 28 and lasted for about 2 days. The pins and needles thing has been on and off since I quit. It's frustrating but I guess my body is getting more oxygen than before - hang in there! I was just wondering if anyone else has had dizzy spells after stopping smoking. I am on day 31 and today i have been feeling realy dizzy on and off, i dont mean a little light headed, i had that the first few days it has been so bad that i have had to sit down because the room was spinning. Last night i could not sleep because of pins and needles, i have never had pins and needles that were so painful. It seems like it is a ciculation thing but would like to know what anyone else thinks. Thanks everyone, I was wondering if it could also be down to dehydration. I used to drink a cup of tea with every cig, but have cut down on drinking tea to just a few a day and i havnt been drinking any water. Bambi, The same thing happen to me. That was basically the worst thing about quitting, for me anyway. It does get better, i dont even get dizzy anymore. Try to drink alot of water and fruit juice. It helped me a little bit. Congratulations on 30 days!! Bambi: The same thing happened to me. It's like Melanie says, your getting more oxygen and your body has to adjust. It'll pass soon enough. Just don't make any quick changes in your position and move at a slower pace when tackling a chore. And remember to get up slow from a vertical position.
