Freedom, Sorry but i don't agree, Don't go & throw you're marriage away ! You are under alot of stress through your work, this alone creats one hell of a bad environment around family & loved ones... i've been there. I don't know the full story but both of you need to cool down & sort it out, you've got to much invested to throw it away ! you got pushed not punched ... big difference !, either way if you love one another you can work it out. Marie, You are in my thoughts and prayers. I know how upset you must have been to turn to that pack of smokes for comfort! I'm glad you realized so quickly that there was no comfort to be found there. In the past 80-some days, we - you and I - have discovered strength inside us that we did not know was there. Hidden reserves of inner strength that allowed us to put our health and well-being FIRST. I do not believe in coincidence. There is a REASON that you needed to be aware of that strength before the events of this weekend occurred. My advice: listen to your inner voice as you ask yourself for that reason. You have the strength to put your health and well-being first. You do. Sending you a big hug, Sammi My Milage: My Quit Date: 1/1/2007 Smoke-Free Days: 83 Cigarettes Not Smoked: 2,513 Amount Saved: $249 Life Gained: Days: 8 Hrs: 14 Mins: 46 Seconds: 56

Freedom, I was also in an abusive marriage. I got a protection from abuse order which ended the physical abuse, but I endured the emotional abuse for several more years until I found the strength to end the marriage...for my sake and for my children (girls). He said I needed counselling...there was nothing wrong with him. I went alone, and I learned a lot! Do what you have to do to survive, but understand what your child is learning from you. Please don't give up your quit. It won't help anything, but you know that already. Use your coping skills to get through the worst of it, and stick close to us. We will give you all the support we can. Marie, It's obvious that you're hurting a lot right now and I'm so sorry to hear that. But honestly, did smoking help in any way? Did it make your marriage better? Did it solve any of your problems? I doubt that it did. Just remember that next time you "think" that you want to smoke. Welcome back and remember to post next time BEFORE you smoke! We're here to help you, but we can't help you unless you post! Crave the Quit! Oh Freedom. Today is not the day! You are going to get a completely honest answer from me. I don't mean to offend you but I speak from experience. GET OUT! No relationship should EVER be abusive. EVER EVER EVER! I was in an abusive marriage and it ruined my life. It ruined my trust in people, my trust in myself, it seriously damaged my children, and it was so not worth it. It has been a long time now and we all still pay the price. I personally, pay the price every single day! Do not give up your quit. Do not give up on yourself. What the argument about doesn't matter at all! You quit smoking for you. Don't buy any more cigarettes. No one is worth giving up your freedom for. I thought about it all night long. Left the house 3 times and could not do it. I could not give up the freedom I have fought so hard for. The quit belongs to ME and NO ONE can take it away from me. Don't give away your self that way. Do not give yourself into a relationship that has no benefit for you or meaning. Defend him however you want, it makes no difference to me. I want you to know that there isn't a damn thing counseling can do for an abuiser. I'm sorry. That is how I feel. I hope somehow this helps you. Get you quit back. It belongs to you! My husband and I had yet another major fight. This one involved abuse (he pushed me). He's gone to a hotel at my request. I went out and bought a pack of cigarettes. I've never gone this long and I screwed up and hate myself for it. I still have 1 month worth of Chantix and I just tossed the cigarettes out the car window on the way back from a friend of my kid's 5 year old birthday party. Damn it. I'm hurting mentally so badly right now - I can't even let my kid see me as I type tis but I will keep it together but I will for her. Marriage therapy appointment is tomorrow. It's the same stuff, the same argument over and over again.
